Anyone had any thoughts on going from a S1 to an RS3 and if you feel a big upgrade difference?

That 5 cylinder obviously is a big difference and those pops and bangs sound amazing!

Yeah thought about it but it's ridicously over priced but very nice.
Think I'd prefer a BMW M4 for that sort of money.

See signature - will give you more thoughts when it arrives in a month!

Awesome! What type of deal did you get? The PCP figures must be pretty high considering the cost of the RS3 damn lol

I got a special deal thanks to the number of cars I buy... Right now from reading recent threads on the RS3 forum 1-3% discount is all you'll get!
I've ticked EVERYTHING and it works out as;
£2k deposit
48 months
£737pcm
8k mileage
£22.5k GFV

The S1 is £1k deposit, £550pcm, so it's not massively different (my SQ5 was £3k deposit and £900pcm and it cost the same as the RS3!).

That's a pretty decent deal to be fair

I'm tempted to test drive one but I know I'll probably really like it.. Only had the S1 a little while but have a fair bit of equity. I change cars too quickly lol

Let us know how yours goes

Well ginger. Had an S1 for a couple of days while S3 in for service..didn't like it at all. Seemed like a posh little shopping car after S3. Few weeks later had a morning in RS3 and ordered one.. It's all personal I know.

Finally Ginger , don't know where you are but an RS3 isn't double the money in uk.

Base S1 money = fully spec'd RS3 money - but that's hardly a fair comparison.

And £737pcm is all relative I guess! I say it's not bad for effectively leasing a £50k+ car!

I have just gone from S1 to S3 and the difference is massive.

I think I'll take a look at the TT-RS when it comes along. Purely personal, of course, but I've not been a fan of the 8v shape. The TT also didn't look that special to me in pictures, but I had some time to kill in the dealers the other day (getting a rattle sorted) and sat in one for a bit - I think it looks better in the flesh.

How do you know you have lots of equity already? The only way I can see to tell is through the MyAudi website, but they come back to you (i.e. it's not automatic), and I didn't go through with the check for fear of getting pestered by someone...

You can tell if you have equity based on how much you owe vs what the car is now worth - but it no hard science as what the car is worth is what someone is willing to pay on the right day. I've never seen any option on myAudi related to this?

You can get an instant settlement figure from http://audifinance.co.uk to see what you owe as of today (it calculates the rebate of unpaid interest).

Settlement for me is 19k

Not sure what Audi would give me against an RS3 though

Trade value of your S1 based on your spec and age will be about that... So not much equity to push over as a deposit. You can but ask!

Mine just always says 'online services not available' - I've never had any luck with the site.

I'm thinking that a £31k car with 3,500 miles on the clock at 6 months old should be able to sell for £26k or so, and so since I paid £4.5k deposit plus 6 months of payments, that should amount to a couple of grand, right?!

Just managed to get a settlement - £24,200. Definitely reckon I could make a couple of grand off that... particularly if the stealer knew I wanted an RS model!

There's a big difference between it's selling price privately, on a forecourt and trade value.

Trade I'd guess low 20's
Forecourt you are probably right at £26-28k
Privately will be somewhere in between IF you can find a buyer who knows that buying a car on finance is no big deal as they just pay VWFS themselves so no chance of them maintaining an interest in the asset.

Considering I have ordered an RS3, I think you'll be lucky. If there was more wiggle room on the RS3 prices you'd be OK, but they aren't giving much away.

Took the RS3 out for a drive a few weeks ago, yes its a quick car, but was a bit boring to be honest.
I think the Focus RS will be more fun to drive.

Not at all, just an opinion.
I drove it and yes it was rapidly quick, but the DSG makes for a boring driving experience for me personally. I like a manual gearbox personally. Dont get me wrong its quick, excellent finish and sound is second to none. But for nearly £15,000 less Id rather have a Focus RS.... It ticks the boxes I like... Quick, AWD, Manual... And more importantly a hell of a lot cheaper than the Mercedes/Audi/BMW's

£124 short of £ 60,000 that's what you will pay if you buy the car after four years sorry mate you must be mad even if you don't buy it £737 a month still crazy amount of money.
I love the RS3 but it ain't worth no where near that amount of money especially when evo tested it against a Golf R around a track and it was quite a bit slower.
It's a hot hatchback and I agree with skiman the new focus will be a good car for £30k with extras and it being a RS will hold its money incredibly well to.
Think I'd be buying a BMW M4 for that sought of money.

My S3 cost me £250 a month over 18 months, don't expect the RS 3 to be hugely more. After discounts £44k, reckon £35-37 after 18 months.. At worst £500 a month , hopefully £3-400

Just looked at a 4 series outside Albert Hall in London, BMW exhibition... Nice but it's a BMW ....

You're including the cost of finance in that Andy, which to be fair most of us will need to pay anyway regardless of what car we buy be it £30k for the Focus or £40k for the RS3 (both prices before options).

It's a fair comment re the M4 although it is significantly more money imho eg £57k before options however someone over on the RS3 section did just that recently when waiting times increased.

TX.

Don't worry Skiman if I had the money I would wait for the new Alfa Guila Cloverleaf
It lapped the Ring 14 seconds faster than the BMW M4 Awesome lol

All subjective isn't it who would have what car and what you would prefer and willing to pay!
The original question is a RS3 an upgrade and of course it is.

Undoubtedly but what Skiman is only saying is that the gearbox option doesn't make it as fun as the S1. I drove my nephews new S3 and I enjoyed my car more to be honest. Each to their own

Yeah see I think that's what makes mine more fun. That extra 20 odd bhp and more torque lol. His exhaust did sound nicer tho ;-(

Slightly off thread I know what re map do you have is it abt or revo.

I have the abt piggyback ecu. It was more expensive of course but I'm hoping that the cost should be balanced out with a warranty clutch replacement if it goes within the next 15 months.

Any clutch issues with it.. Sorry last question off to work in few minutes.

No you're ok. I have just done 8k, so about 6.5 k on the remap and it's fine so far. Then I don't do screaming fast pull aways from the lights all the time lol. My fun is more when I'm up to sped and fast overtakes. Hoping to track day at Brands and the Ring next year lol.
