VAG Admit Cheating Diesel Emmissions...

Probably the saloon being a fairly newish model it had the new engine fitted when it came out
I have the Nov13 sline 2.0 150 and while the other sites seem to suggest its the other engine my V5 has Nox at .151 so assumed I'd be one of those affected...?

Here in sweden you can now type in your number plate on the Audi Sweden site and get an instant yes or no if your vehicle is affected.

Just because it's euro 5 does not mean that it is an ea189 engine.
It's all in earlier posts in this thread if you fancy a long long read ☺

So how do we think UK government are going to play this.

I selected an a3 in 2012 based on the emissions being low and reducing my company car taxation. If now they are going to fix the car and remove the cheat software and possibly reclassify the emission levels of the car surely the taxation level will go up.

Does that mean this money grabbing government are going to tax me and back date it for the past 3 1/2 years ?

I'd only worry about it if/when that actually happens. Too much idle speculation in the press trying to scare us.
No one knows how this is going to pan out, least of all the media.

I still haven't seen a 150 tdi affected (but I naturally haven't read all there is), e.g. my engine, delivered April 2014, is ok according to the Swedish Audi homepage search function.

Volkswagen group uk announces action plan to modify diesel

New vehicles with EU6 engines currently available not affected
◾All petrol models, as well as V6 TDI and V8 TDI models, unaffected
◾Technical solutions being developed andwill be presented to responsible authorities before end of October

Milton Keynes, September 30,2015 – Volkswagen Group UK is announcing its action plan to correct the emissions characteristics of certain diesel vehicles.

In the coming days, the VIN (Vehicle Identification Number) details of affected cars will be released to retailers. In addition, a self-serve process for customers to check if their vehicle is affected will be set up.

Step by step, affected customers will be contacted, with details of a process to get their vehicles corrected in the near future. In the meantime, all vehicles are technically safe and roadworthy.

Under the action plan, the Volkswagen Group brands whose vehicles are affected will present the technical solutions and measures to relevant responsible authorities in October.

Customers with these vehicles will be kept informed over the coming weeks and months. All of the Group brands affected will set up national websites to update customers on developments.

The specific numbers of vehicles in the UK affected per brand are as follows:

Volkswagen Passenger Cars – 508,276
Audi – 393,450
SEAT – 76,773
ŠKODA – 131,569
Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles – 79,838

Volkswagen Group UK is committed to supporting its customers and its retailers through the coming weeks.

I'd be surprised if HMRC back-date your tax because of this.

However if they do then I'd say you have a strong reason to claim the extra tax you've had to pay from VAG.

At least that's what I would do. My 1.4 TFSI CO2 was recently revised up from 109 to 114...however I got mine while it was 109, hence I'm OK.

As far as I'm aware you don't need to inform HMRC every time your CO2 emissions change...

CO2 emissions for company cars are reported on the P11D, which is prepared at tax year end. So next May you might find your tax code changes to recoup underpaid tax.

Interesting video if you haven't watched it.

I'd be more concerned that I paid a lot of money for a product that appears not to be what it was described as when I bought it.
I'd imagine that some legal statute would give me the right to return it for a full refund under these circumstances especially since the manufacturer has admitted wrong doing.

I have just received an email from my dealer saying they will keep me informed with all the progress on this problem.

A bit strange that the UK Audi (which I asume is really big) does not yet offer the same service as Swedish Audi, thus the possibility to make an simple search using your plate details, which will tell if you engine is any of the affected. Someone could mail their marketing or IT department and ask perhaps?

Audi France. you can check your chassis number and it will tell you whether you have a recall or not.then they will send you a letter if you request it stating that your engine is good to euro 6

Not sure if this is earlier in the thread but look what news night did in 2014 (came across this elsewhere)

This made me chuckle, I used to own a ford, this appeared in my inbox:

Dear Mr *******
If you follow any sort of media, you’re sure to have heard the stories about emissions testing for diesel engines.
We wanted to take this opportunity to bring you some more positive news and deliver this message from our company Executive Vice President, Jim Farley.
FORD EMISSIONS COMMITMENT
Given the worldwide attention and news coverage related to diesel emissions tests, we at Ford want to make sure our position on these key issues is clear.
First, our vehicles and engines – including our advanced-technology diesel engines – meet all applicable emissions requirements. Importantly, we do not have any so‑called “defeat devices” in our vehicles.
We also fully support efforts to ensure that test procedures more closely match the real‑world conditions that customers experience under normal driving. That is why we have supported the development of a European Real Driving Emissions initiative that is going into law in Europe.
Ford is committed to offering customers high fuel efficiency and low emissions through what we call the “power of choice.” We offer a variety of choices ranging from our EcoBoost-powered petrol vehicles and advanced technology diesels to hybrids, plug-in hybrids and full electric vehicles.
Visit www.ford.co.uk or your local FordStore or Ford dealer to learn more about Ford’s newest vehicles, technology and our commitment to Go Further.

Relevant news updates today:

1. The recall of more than 1 million UK cars caught up in the VW crisis won't be mandatory for British drivers, the Government has said.

2. UK owners will be able to check their car serial number online to see if they are affected, very soon.

Ok this might be interesting to everyone. Sold my 2010 170 tdi Quattro this morning to WBAC , no problem. No reduction because of the scandal got £1200 more than px price
Very easy ,very nice. They deducted £60 for each kerbed wheel ,which is fair.
Very happy. The liked my car and said he has a bet on the rugby and if he wins he will try to buy it for himself.
Anyway seems the trade are ignoring the issue.
He told me cars like audis are sought after and as winter approaches the quttro is higher in value.
Anyway happy .On top of which my S3 has moved into prep two weeks early.

I got a call from my Audi dealer to tell me my car has one of the offending engines and he will keep me up to speed
As what's happening

Interestingly down under the Federal Govt. through our consumer tribunal (ACCC) is beginning to make comments about legal action and fines due to the lack of announcements by VW.

http://www.dailytelegraph.com.au/te...ng-to-get-caught/story-fnjwq1p2-1227554160156

Audi & VW have suspended the sales and deliveries of all 2.0l diesel models.

VW here claim, that only a software update is required, but the cheat software doesn't operate here anyway.

" Meanwhile, VW owners in Australia are not likely to get new engines if a recall occurs.
While overseas markets may get mechanical changes to the affected diesel engines — or a replacement — vehicles sold in Australia are likely to simply get a computer upgrade."

Entered my VIN on the UK VW site and got a confirmation that it's not affected (although the site does actually state that the search facility is not for other VW group brands...but appears to work ?).

Yes the VW site seems to work for Audi's as well. I've just entered the VIN for my April 2014 A3 2.0TDI-184 (engine CUNA) and my wife's 2011 A1 1.6TDI (engine CAYC) and it says that neither of them is affected.

Pathetic, money grabbing tosspots.
How many Bugatti s, Bentleys and Lambourghinis have a 1.6l or 2.0l diesel?
Jump on the bandwagon why dont you......
Parasites.

Oh and learn to spell while you're at it.

This will be the first of many.
I'd like to think that any merited compensation would be offered up by Audi to their customers without the need to use a firm of solicitors.
Will be keeping an eye on things as looks like the wife's car is one that will be affected.

Mine's a CLHA (2013 A3 Sportback1.6 TDI), which I think, like the CUNA, is a EA288 engine.
Could do with someone with a EA189 testing out the search facility on the VW site.

Checked mine. Confirmed what I thought. Not affected. Happy to continue booting it when I can and still returing 55mpg! :racer::yahoo::rockwoot::sex:

I suspect it just checks your VIN against a list and isn't working for Audis. I tried it with my Q5 which I think is affected and it said not....

I just checked mine 2013 a3 1.6tdi and it say's NOT Affected but I also retyped a few different numbers and they also said the same

Why are you all checking

This. Pointless checking the VW one that says on it that it doesn't include information on other VAG Group cars.
Wait for the Audi one.

Not sure of the problem now. ?
I understand that the UK authorities have announced that owners will not be required to have any change made to their cars. So just carry on as you are.... I sold mine yesterday ( not because of the scandal, I was selling to finance my S3).

At a guess it has a list of the VIN numbers that are affected and if you enter a number which is NOT a VW number, it's not on the list so it says it's not affected. I know mine is OK but I would have thought my wife's 1.6TDI in her 2011 A1 would be affected. Not a problem as it's on a PCP and he has already agreed a price with a VW dealer against the new Polo she has on order that is due in the next couple of weeks..
