Well I might as well show you guys what I have been up to sine I bought the car.

Here it is as I bought it, all standard bar the tinted windows

First thing I had to do was change the clutch switch as the car was holding onto its revs for too long between gear changes, thankfully it was a nice and easy 10 minute job.

Then I had to change all 4 tyres as the ones that were on it were terrible, the road noise actually gave me a sore head on long journeys. So off went the rubbish no names and on went a set of Bridgestone Potenzas... What a difference, it was like driving a new car!

Next It was off to be de-chromed

The next big thing was the exhaust, the original one had started to blow at the flexi coupling and on inspection the rest of the exhaust looked to be on it's last legs, so a Milltek full system including sports cat was promptly ordered.

Here it is on the car

Not long after that was fitted a rear spring snapped so they were all replaced with H&R springs, I dont have any pictures of the stance yet but it is a nice subtle drop and is makes the car much nicer to drive over the standard springs

Next I was onto the engine bay. It annoys me how Audi done cost cutting in this area so I managed to get hold of some new covers although the power steering one is the wrong one for the car and will need modifying a bit.

Today I fitted my APR Carbonio system, I don't think it give much gains but it does make the engine bay a nicer place to look at.

Tomorrows job should be to fit the RS4 Black optics grill and to have another bash at fitting the 034 Motorsport TITP.

Over the next couple of weeks the car will be getting a new uprated clutch/flywheel, I will also be changing the oil pick up pipe, cam follower and cam chain and tensioner. Once all that is done then it will be time for a Stage 2 remap. Then thats it.......... Or will it???

When I bought this car I said that I wasnt going to spend much on it at all............ OK THEN!!! lol

Anyway, cheers for looking, I'll hopefully get more pictures up soo

I thought id paint the number plate holder from grey to matte black and see how it looks on the new grill, got to say, im not liking it (It looks more grey than it did before) I think i'll be buying some gloss black paint tomorrow and giving it another go.

yep, nice grill but that filler isnt quite right in matt, deffo gloss .
Are you sticking with the rims fitted at present or going with something else, it took me a fair while to take the plunge to change mine but now changed i'm very pleased with the replacements i choose.
what size exhaust tips are they aswell chap, i'm still trying to sort mine out but cant decide on a final one too go with.

At the moment I have no plans to change the wheels as I like them on the car, I think once I have them spaced out by 12 at the back and 10 at the front they will look much better, I am thinking about getting them reconditioned in a slightly darker shade though.

The exhaust tips are the 100mm jet ones, I was sceptical to begin with as I've never been into oversized tips, thankfully they don't look bad on the car at all, gives the car a nice aggressive look

Thats the RS4 grill now fitted, got to say it was a fairly easy job to do, the only difficult bit was not realizing there was 2 10mm bolts on the inside of each wing.

I still have to respray the plinth and im also thinking that a detango is on the cards too

Had my plinth painted gloss black, looks very good. Definitely "detango" those lights!

I'll get the plinth done when I'm next off work, I'm in 2 minds on buying new lights or just modding my ones, anyone know how much it would cost for new lights from TPS?

Got my new eggless lights from euro car parts for around £200

Dependant on Respray cost, you can buy genuine gloss black plinths. I did realise this until after I had mine sprayed up

Thats not too bad, would save a bit of hassle

Yeah, I think they are about £35-40 , i'm quite happty to spray my original plinth myself though

Yes that's why I didn't bother doing the mod myself. If you shift your old lights on for about £80 like I did than its a no brainer for me. Plus you have nice sparkly new lenses too

Oh dear they seem to have shot up by 40% since I purchased mine, they're now £140 each for the Magneti Marelli ones!

Mind you they do seem to have a 35% off everything on every 2nd weekend just lately

Fitted some pacers today, 12mm at the back and 10mm front

I'm starting to like the stance but it has to come down more at the front, I think i'll try a set of B5 perches first

yep, looking good , just need to loose the roof angle iron now......

Hahaha, I have been thinking about that but i'd rather have the bikes on the roof than inside the car.. Especially at this time of year, I'm thinking of changing the bars to a set of thule wingbar edge ones

May I ask how you got your trim dechromed?

Time for an update. Just had a call from the guys doing the work on my car to say it's ready. For those that don't know the car was in to get the clutch/fly wheel changed, also to have the oil pick up pipe and cam chain/tensioner changed and a new cam follower fitted

here is a couple of pics and a video of how the engine sounds now

The old cam chain and tensioner, not much life left in it tbh

New cam chain and tensioner fitted

One very dirty and gunked up head

Head stripped down due to a critical bolt in the pulley being found to be sheared (thankfully this was found or it would have been big catastrophic and only luck had stopped it from causing damage)

Another dirty head pic

Lastly a video of it all back together and running again

Due to the amount of dirt gunk and glook in the head and sump I have decided to buy a 034 Motorsport billet catch can kit, also going to have the inlet valves decoked next month as they will be gopping!

thats a good job done then, what is the milage on that cam chain & tensioner chap.

A Very good job, I don't think it has ever been changed before so I would say that they are on 106k. I'm actually dreading looking at the inlet valves next month, I think that will be another big job

Todays job was to fit the LCR splitter and fix the bottom of the bumper where it must have caught something in the past, I've also fitted a black SLine badge to the grill

Now I just need to fit the B5 Perches for the ride height to be sorted

looking very nice chap, black and grey combo looks the dogs dangley bits .......

Got to agree with you there Rob, its amazing how those 2 little changes have changed the look of the front. I'm also thinking I like the tango look at the moment

How much does it cost for one to de chrome their car, very nice car too

That depends on if you want to cover/hide the chrome or replace the chrome? The later can be a ridiculous price just for the window surrounds alone (around £800 at a guess)

Yeah, it's stupidly expensive to do it by changing to the black optics window surrounds, most people that do it go down the wrapping route, doing it that way cost me £60 and you'd be hard pushed to know the difference between the wrap and the black optics pack

Did you do it yourself? Or did someone charge you that to do it? Sorry if this sounds a stupid question

I got a someone to do it for me, I don't have the patience to do it myself, it's well worth getting done, especially if your chrome has started to go off and turn milky.

Just realised I said £60, it was actually £80 but even at that it was still cheap, I mind talking to the guy about his price and he said he wasn't making much out of it at all and that he may look into raising his price a bit, he was still going to be cheaper than £150 though.

Unfortunately I am up in Edinburgh so he's not much good to you

Oh dam it, I'd have been there too!

Well, I finally go around to fitting the Loba HPFP yesterday, it was a fairly simple job to do except for the one hose underneath that has those stupid spring clamps on them! After fitting I took the car for a wee drive and wow, what a difference! the car now races to the rev limiter and feels strong right through the range where as before you could feel a noticeable drop off in power , now I cant wait to see what it's going to be like after the Stage 2+ remap.
