Hi guys I've read numerous threads already but I'm still very confused / unsure. I have a 09 plate S3 with standard 18" wheels. I'm after the RS3 / TTRS brakes as they are a straight swap. What discs are best for fast road ?? I've read that "" ( 362mm AP racing discs with brackets ) "" is what I need, and yellow stuff pads, along with the RS3 braided hoses ??

Will all this fit under the standard 18" wheels ? Will I require spacers ?

Thanks a lot

i fitted mine the other day, ttrs/rs3 brembo caliper mintex m1155 pads hoses that were already on my s3 just normal standard from the factory. used ttrs discs new from tps. changed the fluid for dot5.1 motul stuff. my car is pre facelift with standard 18'' wheels i put 15mm h&r hub centric spacer on with bolts. removed the wheel weights closes to the inner face of the alloy as they will hit the caliper. had them on since last wednesday and did a little track day in them yesterday all seems well so far.

some photos in my thread black beauty. its a tight fit 19'' wheels would be better but i don't like them haha

Thread revival, working from my phone here so tinterweb searches are a pain @COSTA_P / anyone know the part number for the Mintex M1155 pads for the TTRS setup?

Thanks

Thanks Costa, had heard the Scooby pads were the same but couldn't be sure. Thanks for the link

No problem on the wear sensor they've already been modified as running somewhat disappointing DS2500's.

Im not sure if id go with the m1155 again might try the slightly less 'track' m1144. the '55 give quite a lot of brake dust off.

I was hoping you were going with 'dust' in that sentence rather than squeal. Dust I can live with if they'll take a bit of a beating. The DS2500's do actually work very well but when pushed really hard just leave deposits all over the place and judder like crazy.

mine judder, its the ttrs disc as they arent handed one doesn't cool down the way it spins giving them death warps the disc i don't think the pad will make any difference. Rubbish design by audi considering the cost of the cars off the line. i bought my discs brand new about 2-3 weeks after the judder came.

I think I have that also, you can see there's just nowhere for the heat to decipate to, the rotor is connected to the bell by a relatively tiny surface area so can't sink it away, plus as you say the venting isn't directional.

I'm changing to the Vagbremtechnik disc setup when I fit the new pads. Hoping that'll work.

That's what I want to change mine to when I've got some spare cash disc and brackets are around £1200 I think I've read somewhere.

They will take all the hammering you can throw at them. If not I know Dave most of the time is able to get them replaced free of charge.

Disc is not in the correct direction in this picture. The paint is temperature sensitive from 400 to 600 degrees C. Mine were all white after one track day which means that the temperature's were exceeded.

XFI, they are a thing of real beauty, shows me what I've got to look forward to. Hmmm, Pagid RS4-2's, as you have the setup I'm looking for I might as well ask...how do you find them on the road? I know they are ECE R90 rated so good from cold and have a great reputation on the track but how are they to live with day to day?

Thanks

From stone cold they are pretty poor, with heat seriously good. Too much heat (tracking 15/20 minutes +) and pad deposits are left on the discs which causes the entire steering to wobble badly. Brake dust is very bad too and they are noisy round town speeds! They are a very good fast road and light track day pad. I've done about 6000 miles and two track days and they have plenty of life left. I'm not sure what pad ill be replacing these with come the time though.

Thanks for the review, I know you can't have everything so it's where I draw that line, good road manners and sacrifice the temp capability or take the capability and live with the squeal and dust...

Decisions decisions...
