Just wondering what servicing costs people are getting.

Just been quoted £199 for the first oil change which I think is pretty reasonable.

I was quote £299 for my oil change, but because they made me wait for an extra 2 hours they dropped it down to £199.
Just had another service done for pollen filter and general check over as 2 years old £242 . They certainly know how to charge, as they charged me £45 just for the filter.

Some historical perspective here. A regular service on my first car in 1984 typically cost me £40, including oil, plugs, filters etc. But that was every three months, so £160 a year. You add 30 years' worth of inflation to that and even £299 for an annual service on an S4 is an absurd bargain.

I did think this sounded very cheap, and the service advisor just reeled of the cost for 4 pot service not knowing the difference. But I know of a chap who got his RS4 serviced at the same dealer for £230 - so its maybe not so far out. Either way, I have it writing now.

It is an Audi dealer so would assume that they are using the correct oil.

NO, the annual service was £299+ £242=£531, and that was just the pollen filter change what will it be next year?

I was quoted £452 for my 1st service and then it was reduced a day later upon collection and after some warrenty work to £248, I then reminded the dealer I have the 1st services included in the deal for the car and I signed and left.

£199 for a 1st service seems pretty good to me.

The 1st service on the wifes X5 was over £500!!!!!!

£199 isn't for the full service, it's the oil change service only...which is essentially an intermediate service. I had mine done in May and was charged £189, which I though fair enough.

Not sure how much the full services are but I'm on a Service Plan covering 3 full services (around £900 for the plan), this also gives me cover for 6 MOTs as I'll be having mine serviced every 2 years (with a oil service in between) so mine will work out to be £200 a full service and £189 for an oil change service.....so £195 a year for the next 6 years. Not bad at all!

I can beat the lot of you - just under £1100 for an Audi A4 with the 3.2. The Audi dealership in question is an absolute disgrace to the Audi brand.
I've received cars back lacking wheel nuts and air filters not fitted correctly. Has been reported to Audi UK but they aren't interested. Shame really as it may put future Audi owners off.

Dread to think what they would charge for an S4!

Now drive 90 miles (round trip) to the 2nd closest dealer who are far superior.

Yes, to be clear its the one year old / 10k miles service which is just changing the oil and a quick look see rather than the 'full' service.

I'd wait two hours to save £100!

The best way is to get a quote from a local indy VAG garage, then ask the Audi dealer to price match.

I had the 19,000 service carried out on my 2.0 tdi for £148.25 including all filters but not including oil as I bought 20 litres of Petronas oil for £94 so took a 5 litre can in with the car for service. Total cost for service was therefore £171.75.

Got it serviced today, price wasn't a mistake - £199 for the first oil change which i'm quite happy with. They even picked it up from my work and took it back.

I recently had to book mine in for its 3 year brake fluid change, and enquired about the cost for servicing. I cannot remember the exact figures, however it was in the ballpark of the above numbers.

What surprised me the most though, is that i got given two prices for the same service. One for booking it in before the car turned 3, and another for it being outwith the warranty period. Believe it or not, but it would have been £40 cheaper to wait and book it in a day after the warranty expired.

The adviser stated it was due to discounts being applied, but i would have though it would be the other way around?

It's best to book it in before the warranty expires. They can then do a thorough check for any work that can be claimed on warranty. I got an alternator once, saved myself hundreds of pounds.

I think they know that within they warranty period you are almost a captive audience as very few will want to risk warranty complications by servicing outside the network thus they charge a premium. Outside the warranty period they are a bit more competitive. I remember VW used to actively market a competitive fixed price servicing scheme for cars 3 years or older and I guess Audi do the same.

That said so far I've found the costs pretty reasonable.

I'm going in for a service next week. Oil change plus brake fluid, £10 more expensive combined at the Indy, but includes the pollen filter. Going with those guys as know the car and will do a proper check over especially brakes (not just a look through the wheels). Combined total £267
