Hello.
I have tuned PD140, upgraded to 312mm brakes and after some spirited driving on highway saw dark lines on brake disk (probably cause I used them hard), also there arose a need of better brakes. What mods should I do without increasing disk diameter (need to suit 16" rims) to increase braking power? Heard about braided lines,
"grippier" pads... are they worth trying or waste of money?
Thanks!

If 312mm are the same as the ones that come on golf GTI/my a3 170 diesel then that's biggest you can go under 16" wheels

May I ask why you want to keep the car on 16s?

Braided lines will help as will fast road pads

What power are you running in your car?

Yes, they are same as 170 a3.
I use 17" for summer (next year I will go 18") and for winter I have 16". Our government scatter a lot of salt on roads so running steel rims is cheaper, also sometimes I hit a curb sliding so that saves me money :D
I thought there are and searched a bit for improved calipers but couldn't find any.
Power wasn't measured yet, but must be somewhere 240bhp.

If you're running 240bhp you want to be running 245mm s3/r32 brakes really....

:/
Thanks for answers!
Must be selling my 16s and use summer rims for winter.

what turbo u running for 240 bhp stock injectors are good for 235 bhp or they running flat out ?

what clutch do you have ?

R32 front and rears you want that's what im running and fantastic stopping power

Gotta spend some money on all these mods :p New wheels, R17 tyres then need to find a R32/S3 set... Sorry my wallet! :)

Turbo is from XMan turbos, high spec hybrid, 56mm 11blades billet compressor wheel (that's all I know actually).
Yeah, injectors are stock, injecting 70mg per ~40duration, low smoke(even lower than Stage1 stock turbo). Heard max is 80mg and 44deg so even have some room :) Saw some crazy cars doing even 280hp on stock injectors. Don't know how long will they last though :D

My power suggestion is based on other car, which has same specs and tuned at the same tuner, but should measure mine soon!
Clutch also stock, don't know how but it holds pretty well, even accepts some abuses. Not so much torque, around 320ft lb, that's must be the reason.

It may be better to go for 18" wheels with 225/40/18. More tyre on the road will help with traction and S3 brakes will definitely fit under 18" wheels.

Yes yes! Traction is what I need now, both for accelerating and stopping.
New 18" set for summer, and just new winter tyres for my existing summer wheels.

you need a clutch . its all about the ft lbs ..

if its been mapped by a tuner you should know the figures when they put it on the rolling road.

Tuned by UK man and I'm located outside UK. I jest sent him my file and he reedited it several times. Final corrections will be made after dyno log.

always better to map on the rolling road tbh
