Hi everyone.

Just bought myself an A4, 62 plate with 55k on the clock. Was delighted with it until I took it in to audi to get a couple if recalls done.

They gave me another A4 tdie to drive with the same power output and it was quieter, smoother, less turbo lag and pulled better at high rpm. Also better mpg (by at least 10mpg) and quicker.

Now I'm concerned that there is a problem with mine but don't know where to start. There are no fault codes so naturally the dealer will assume all is well and refuse to investigate further.

Any ideas?

Kind regards

What's service history like? Has it been service recently. Could just need a service. Air filter, fuel filter change or tyres could be well wore in regards mpg...

Service history is patchy but just had an oil and brake fluid change. Air filter looks good too.

The front tyres are Chinese rubbish so I'm thinking of putting on a couple of michelins.

I was wondering if the egr may need cleaning or replacing but I've been told I would get fault codes if that was the case.

As above ditch the cheap Chinese tyres this may help noise and vibration and possibly fuel economy a little as rolling resistance isn't high on the design usually in these cheaper tyres. Try putting through a few tanks of decent fuel such as Shell or Shell V-power and see if that helps.

Is there anything mechanical that could be holding it back but not throw up a fault code?
