Would you recommend window tinting?

£150 sounds dirt cheap. Where'd you get quoted that?

I've read of some real horror stories with tinting peeling and bubbling after a short time.

Thats how much i paid over a year ago, southampton monsterwraps, they also did my mk4 3 dr £99 on a special offer they do occasionally.
I had my chrome window trims done at the same time so possible they offset a small discount as I use them on every car.

Interesting. Thanks for the info. I'll shop around.

Out of interest, what % have you got?

Always get my cars tinted, I'm forever leaving tools in the back and it helps with privacy

Going rate around the North west at least is 150 for the back section of a saloon car

Would highly reccomend pentagon autos in heywood for he record

Theres a pic of my A4 with full rear tints, and my mates Lexus, his front are done slightly

I have done this many times to many cars, very dark tints are a pain in the night. If you are trying to do anything in an unlit area forget it !

I had a very nice fine for front tints, pulling out of a sunny junction is infinitely safer with the front tints and can never remember a issue at night. I failed the light meter and that was that, it was quite dark though. My car had just come back from Trinidad so needed the dark windows.

Thanks for the input.

What percentage tint do you have on the front/back and do you have any pics?

Cheers mate.

Wasnt stopped yet, has in the past with other car and let me go twice lucky. Not sure about percentage, cant remember.

So I did the tints last night.

Llumar 50% on all the windows
And 35% on the rear

Im thinkin i should have did it 35% all around.

Also, do you think black rims go well with lava grey?

Haha its just routine here. You either get it done professionally, do it yourself (always a $#% up ) or some people, god knows why, tick that box at the dealers, the dealer sends it out then charges an extra thousand $s or so for the privelege of them dealing with the professional. Its just a necessity here guys. The thing is the quality of the tint. What type and manufacturer. I have used Wincos, made by ?Madico, for my last couple of cars. Optically very good and easy to live with. Actually surprises me that co.s like Audi have not developed photochromatic glass for cars. You can get sunnies that go dark in the sun, why not car glass. Remember, you heard it here first!!

Also maybe it is not as durable as regular glass, or theres safety concerns (maybe it cracks at a lower temp), but interesting idea! i hope cars implement the technology

Audi did my tints, look ok on photos, but now I've had it a while I can see they must have rushed it. As soon as funds allow it, I'll be having them redone. It's always down to personal choice, but I really like them, and if I could I'd have the fronts done a little.

Find it interesting that you guys tint the front windows less. Is this a night vision thing? It would look odd in my books but I'd tint the windows darker in the front here to reduce glare for myself and passenger. Don't often have anyone in the back seats. We just do them all the same. Photochromatic glass?? Yeah I don't really know the properties of it. I imagine its expensive but wouldn't Audi just love that eh. I'm going to start an ideas thread.

Nope, it's a legal thing, you can't have more than factory glass in fronts in the UK

So my car spent two days under the sun to dry off the tint, do you think its safe to roll down the windows or should I want till the third day passes.

Also, how do I know whether imperfection will evaporate or imperfection are from a lousy tint job

Two days? Dado its dry. Imperfections ? I suppose it depends on how big the are. Give that a little while longer.

Lol, I'm the type to always park under shade, Parking my car under the sun was psychologically challenging for me lmao.

But yeah, it dried and I'm gonna pass by the tint shop have them look at the imperfection. Its like a really thin vertical line around 3 cm long
