I'm still lurking, reading threads and often being entertained by the strength of feeling some have about their S3's. I still flipping want one! Im driving a brilliant car, but wanting it's bigger and slightly burlier sibling. The Itch got so bad I stopped thinking about & mucking around with the finance calculator and walked in the dealer today. My motive was to check out my colour & seat options in more than just pictures, then get a feel as to if they were prepared to be flexible (or I'd be flexible right out the door). Turns out the sales guy and I know each other from years ago. We talked rubbish then he led me to an RS3 to check out the SS seats. I'm a slim (Athletic) lad and I've gotta say to sit in, I noticed no flipin difference at all. Maybe it's my shape but I hopped from my standard seat to the SS seat and back again, then decided they to me are not worth the premium. Deffo going sepang And I'm pretty happy I've nailed my spec @ £36k. In principle we've agreed I'm getting a discount. I'm driving for 10% but the crunch will come when I go in prepared to sign the order and we have a word with the sales manager to see if he wants my cash. I'm going low deposit this time (10%) and higher monthly's, just gotta get comfortable with the approx £400 per month payments. damn I wish I had patience and would save up!!! Looking likely for a March 16 car 2yr after I lost my Audi cherry. I willed myself to like the cheaper Focus ST but it just doesn't tick the same boxes....no rings, and simply a different class. I'm now in my personal cooling off period to make sure I'm not being a k.n.o.b
It is after all a car. I remember the days when I was very happy & content with buying a year old ford. What happened.....?
Me, I see it as a reward to myself for working so hard. Plus if you can afford it then why the hell not. Money could always be put to better use though so what makes you throw cash at a premium hatch instead of the perfectly capable mid range alternative???
