I have been offered brand new front and back coilovers (shocks) for my 2002 S3 8l

TA-Technix for £169 delivered.......

Only using for road use. But would anyone say no?

Current shocks etc... are nearly past it.

Thanks

They're cheap budget coilovers so your're pretty much going to get what you pay for with them. They'll probably do the job for a while but dont expect a comfortable ride!

Are they that rough a ride? I used to have fk's on an s3 before and they were ok for me. Are they any different?
Thanks.

I had some on mine for a while and tbh they really weren't bad at all (ride wise) The only reason I swapped them was I thought they were knackerd so I bought all new Koni STR.t but when I took them off I found whoever fitted them didn't use correct retaining nuts for the top mounts so they were constantly knocking,,, DOH

Steve

they wont be firm they will be bouncy and unbalanced,
Spring to damper rates wont be matched well like more expensive coilovers and they just wont make the car feel as good on the road.
I have fk and i hate them.far to bouncy !!!
Been in 2 cars with kw v3. Much firmer spring rates but they ride better. But of course you pay for it.
Cant you stretch to a set of ap? Would imagine these are much better. ( though i have no first hand experience)

Or consider a set of springs and shocks.
If road use only and you dont want/need and height adjustability.
Ap do these for the s3 just over 300

If they are the same kind of ride as the fk coilovers then that's ok for me. Had them before. The car is only a second car and purchased for more of a project for playing about with so I'm not bothered about track handling realy. As I say my rear shocks are both rotting away and I don't feel happy with them on the car. If it was a daily driver then I may say ok to 3 or 400 on a better set. It's funny as they look identical to the fk's. Thanks.

i have these fitted (for about 4-5 months i think) so i can give a proper opinion. ride wise they are ok, they are smooth and not too rough/stiff, just remember they are budget and are set at a happy medium, if your used to being able to adjust higher end coilovers these probably arnt for you. They will get the front low but the rears caused my car to sit un level if adjusted equally and almost as high as stock on the lowest setting so i now have one adjuster cap with no winder on one side and only the spring on the other side, its quite annoying... ive wondered why, possibly badly matched spring rates, dont know if its just my set. unfortunately for me i bought mine on ebay and didnt fit them for a year and they came from germany, pretty much no chance for me to complain.
i drive pretty spirited at times and regularly have the car understeering and over steering on private roads and i have no complaints with on the limit handling, it settles nicesly on hard cornering.
in my experience they ride better than fk i had on a mk3 vr6 several years ago.

what i will say is if you have a relentless 3inch downpipe and sports cat it hangs alot lower than the stock pipe and it takes alot of hits once your lowered.... speed humps now suck!-)

Thanks for that reply. So yes I have a 3" system but I'm not looking to slam it like my old s3 but purely to replace stock shocks etc that are El NACKERED and lower about 30mm. Think I'll give them a go and see how it sits. Can sell them on if need be so not too much hassle I suppose. Thanks again.
