I got a cable supplied with my S3 which allowed me to connect my iPhone/IPod to the car MMI system using the Lightning connector. Unfortunately I'm not getting album artwork when using an iPhone 6 Plus or iPhone 5. I tried the AMI cable with regular dock connector and tried it with an old iPod Touch and iPod Nano, still no artwork.

I asked at the dealership and was told that the master tech said it's only available with the Tech Pack.

Weird thing is that I *do* get artwork shown on tracks played from an SD card.

Could someone confirm this is definitely correct??

I just tried my 5S using the Audi lightning connector and no artwork when trying to play the U2 album we all got for free (only music on my phone) I think it's something to do with the artwork size, I use an SD card for all my car music and as long as the artwork is under 500x500 and under 200KB in size it shows fine.

Make sure 'Detailed track information' is ticked in the mmi settings when playing from your phone.

Works for high mmi so worth a try if you have this option.

Weird if artwork size is the answer, because if I connect my iPhone via the WLan it works fine and the album artwork appears. If i connect my iPod Classic 160gb using what was supposed to be the correct cable then exactly the same playlist doesn't show the album art for the same tracks.

Forget album art, this remains a black art. Definitely a confusing area and Audi's achilles heel compared to the BMW iDrive in which just about anything i plugged in via the USB worked perfectly - album art and all!!

I reckon some of guys could make life a lot easier for yourselves if you just copy everything to a nice big usb drive, or even onto the hard drive if you have one. Albumart shows up great! Can't see the sense in dicking around with cables etc.

Sd cards seem a bit hit n miss, bluetooth is very quiet and suffers in the sound quality department. USB all the way........ ;)

I'm using 2x128Gb SD cards - works v well indeed much faster and more search options using the handwriting touch pad to search album, tracks, artists etc is much easier !
