Hi, I do have a b6 cabriolet and was planning to facelift as soon as I purchased it. I have now got the whole front end of a b7 cabriolet sitting in my garage. Just want to see if anyone is planning to do this conversion themselves. As I do not have the time and need the car everyday. So please feel free to message me regarding the parts ideally would be perfect for one person to take it on as a project.

Nice side profile pic of the car!

Im planning on doing this but unfortunately I dont have the time at present.

Bit of a bummer for me as I too wanted to crack on with this straight away.

I think as youve spent the time and the money..just like 'Varriosso' on here...just do it when you have the time. Its worth it in the end.

Dan.

Interested in taking this all off you if you still have it?

On 2nd glance, the front end is definitely not a cabriolet front end..or am I loosing my marbles?

Its not an S-line nor SE front. Is it the aftermarket 'Caractere' B7 Cabriolet version?

Its an after market bumper. Lad called Chris has one on his B7 Cab in satin blue vinyl wrap. Looks great imo. :)

Thank for that. Any pics or links by any chance ?

I also like it, similar to the 'agressive' looking Caractere front. (below)

Awesome. Thanks for the photo.

Ive never seen this front end on the Road before. With an RS mesh Grille to complete, I think it will look great.

Looking forward to de-chroming my car similar to the pic

That's my conversion from B6. If you're interested I can tell you which parts you need for the conversion.

Yeah, its complete RS4 conversion with all RS4 bits & pieces and wider rear wheel arches. Still not sure if I like the aftermarket headlights though.

Yeh i have to admit the lights ruin it slightly for me. Its just the curved LED part that puts me off tbh. Do you have list of parts for the conversion?

Hello guys instead of selling the parts, I just went for it on the weekend stripping the front and putting the b7 parts on. Sorry t.oldaker didn't reply just been so busy with work and this car being off the road now. But here's some pics

This was just a rough fit just to see how it would look but oh my gosh the amount of different brackets I need.

No problem its looking great. Been considering this for ages its just the over 1k cost to do the conversion that puts me off currently. Once you get paint involved it becomes a fairly expensive thing to do :D

Yeah the parts cost around a grand then paint but luckily I'm a painter so hopefully I can try fit my car in next Saturday for paint. But the it's really stressing me out as I'm planning to get my mate to do the cambelt and waterpump whilst the front end is off. So that's holding me up for fitting up.

But to be fair you have to fork out for the b7 parts but you will always get money back for the b6 parts so would only cost a couple of hundred from what I worked out. So bear that in mind.

I've been watching your thread as soon as I signed up on the site. But the amount of different brackets and needed for the wings and bumper and wheel arch. I also need the b7 headlight mount for the front and also the black bumper height adjusters that sit on the crash bar. Also for the bonnet did u change the hinge or just put a spacer on it.

This is true I already have the s4 grills and rdx splitter which still fetch a little bit second hand. Where is everyone getting all the bumper brackets and other little bits needed information from? Seems its not just bolt on bolt off as everyone would like to think as everyone forgets about the brackets and screws :D

Yeah

Yeah, it needs few brackets and mounts all around. On the bonnet I used spacers.

Yeah ordered all the bits from Audi I needed also did u put the spacers between the hinge and the bonnet or the hinge and the chassis. Also how many mm or cms did u use?

I placed them between hinge and bonnet. They are around 5mms. I can measure them precisely tomorrow.

Ahh ok will have to keep that in mind. Previous dealing with Seat trying to get the service department to find parts and fixings for optional extra bumpers proved difficult. So will be interested to see how Audi deal with it.

I also overlooked the amount of parts that went into this also.

I thought the screws, nuts and bolts would be a straight swap with nothing else needed up front except the slam panel for the appropriate engine of your car. (from a donor B7 cab)

Potentially dumb question, but what do the brackets look like?

Brilliant service at Audi chingford parts was on the computer with the parts guy looking at the exploded diagrams for the parts I needed come up to £152 inc vat will take a pic of everything tomorrow when I pick up. And I will do a post for all the brackets everyone seems to forget to mention for this conversion.

Thread has gone a bit quiet. Interested to see how its going?

Also just to clarify what bits have to be b7 cabrio and what can be any b7

Lights-any
Wings-cabrio
Bonnet-any
Bumper-any
Slam pannel-cabrio and engine specific
All the bolts and fixings from audi?

Bonnet has to be from a convertible model too. Saloon bonnets are slightly different shape. The rest is correct.

Yes its been a while since I posted The car is now fitted up and ready to painted hopefully on the weekend. I will still do a post for all the extra parts I had to purchase from Audi. But I have literally been so busy with work its been holding me up. And also had a burst pipe from the gearbox to the rad where I had over tighten it and the thread was in the rad but the head came off and the pressure blow it off whilst on the dual carriageway. Then the wheel came off as I was being towed as It was tighten back up after my uncle had swapped my wheels with his. so that was the car done at like 9:30pm and the last pic is when the wheel came off and damaged the wing, the chassis leg and bottom bracket that holds the wing and skirt in place.

heres a few more pics of the headlights wired up and working. Really easy to wire up just a matter of swapping wires around. They are a lot whiter and cleaner in person the camera doesn't really do them justice. But after the little accident My uncle bought me a brand new wing and I managed to pull out the chassis and hammer and dolly the bracket back into the right location. Also changed my rad for a new one from eurocarparts and changed the gearbox oil. So the car is really healthy at the mo recent service done, gearbox oil, coolant and cambelt and waterpump done.

yeah front panel engine specific I got a 3.2 v6 one as mine is the 2.4 v6 so all the fans sit in the same location. I would also recommend buying a used one as the aftermarkets feel very weak. If i knew before hand i would have source a used one instead i bought aftermarket new.

yeah I know was so disheartening when it happened I was on my way to work to drop it off so I could paint it. But its all fixed now and ready for paint this weekend. what colour code did you use?

LY9B as far as I can remember.
yeah I think that is my orginal colour as well. Which i find to be a bit dull compared the the newer blacks. I most probably and will paint the whole car phantom black which is LZ9Y I think. which is abit deeper and has a nice metallic finish.
