Hi guys,

Been sat messing around with the ross tech cable for the past your. I wanted to deactivate seat belt chime, activate needle sweep however I don't get the long coding helper tab so not sure what to do.

I get the following menu, if anyone could help me out that would be great

Needle sweep only available on s & rs cars.

Is it a genuine cable, if so then have you contacted ross-tech for advice?

Ah right I see. It's a genuine cable yes, seems to have activated and updated through the latest ross tech software with no issues. Have purchased second hand so I assume I don't get their support.

How would I remove seat belt chime if you don't mind me asking?

Also is dipping side mirrors in reverse possible in my car?

I don't think the mirror will dip on the A3, but I did manage to get this working on my mates A4 avant.

Seat belt chime is in comfort and convenience off the top of my head, but I'm only new to VCDS too. You just untick a box lol.

There's not many tweaks available to activate as i thought there would be

Depends on your car. If it's pretty new and has a decent spec there won't be

On older models with lower spec there are loads of things that people can do

If you don't have access to the long coder then you need to work out the coding changes.

If you hover the mouse over the software coding box it will bring up a list of codes - it will go for example
3xxxx - low coolant on (4 is off) - so change 3 to 4 for example
x4xxx - low fuel

so you just need to change the figure relating to the seat belt chime

The other way it does it is that it will give you a total figure for the module coding like 34697.

It will give you numbers then for each option which are added together. So for example seat belt chime may have 23 for being activtaed or 45 for no seat belt chime. You then need to add / subtract accordingly

Hope that makes sense! But start by hovering the mouse over the box and it will show you all the coding options :)

Managed to do it yesterday by changing the numbers but thank you! Haven't come across the adding and subtracting method as of yet :p

Adding and subtracting tends to be for older cars :)

Good thing about VCDS is you really can't go very wrong; it either lets you do something or not!

Was a little worried i'd mess something up when i got started but worked out okay
