i have a 2001 S6 4.2 40v V8 ANK engine and i need to source the crank locking tool asap. i have the bar for the cams, just need the crank pin.

The audi tool i believe i need is #3242. due to the engine not many people seem to be able to source one quickly. i have had a look at the ones for the 2.7/2.8 v6's and the look the same. The Laser catalogue lists them as being the same (Laser C043) but not sure how reliable that is.

i have one for the 3.0 V6 asn engine but thats different (as is everything else on that engine) but i wonder is the 2.7/2.8 ones the same as they seem quite similar to the 4.2's.

Can't help you I'm afraid. Can't think why they don't use the same pin for all engines - can I ask why you need one ASAP after everything you've just done?
