So I just purchased and received my Bilstein B16 Ride Control Coilovers yesterday and today was trying to figure out where I would actually put the switch that controls the comfort/sport settings.

I have a Premium vehicle without the drive select button so I've been looking at trying to purchase the center console and use that button, but not sure if this will actually be easy to do.

So that leaves me with the original switch and where to actually put it in the cabin. Anyone have any suggestions?

`I would put it where the start button would go (to the left of the gear selector.. on a right hand drive vehicle), Presuming you don't have advanced key.

That's where i plan to put mine anyway

Yeah either the start stop location or one of the buttons on the control panel for a feature you don't have - possibly one that has an led indicator on it like the auto start/stop.

That way you would have an indication of what mode it was in - it will take a bit of bastardising though to get it working i would imagine but it's a switch at the end of the day so it won't be impossible.

I'd suggest getting the iRC wireless add-on:
http://www.bilstein.de/en-uk/products/sport-and-threaded-ride-high-adjustable-kits/bilstein-b16-irc/

I've had trouble finding installation documents, however reading between the lines it looks like the iRC button doesn't need to be hard-wired to the suspension control box, it just needs a source of power which you can grab from the glove box or 12V socket in the centre console.

There is also the option of ditching a button completely and just controlling the setting from your iPhone/Android phone. This is perhaps the easiest and neatest option.

I thought about the start/stop location, but don't want to drill into the plastic and make it that obvious. I think I will end up buying the Drive select button and trying to figure out how to wire it up that way. However I will be purchasing the IRC which won't need the button at all, so then I was thinking about just putting the button in the glove box so its hidden if I ever need to manually change things.

I ended up finding a GREAT deal and purchased for $2400 instead of the $2900 I was using finding it for. I was looking at the H&R coilovers before but really wanted the drive modes for track days.

I'd get a switch from Audi and install it on the console make it proper oem

I would put it in the glovebox or somthing as i wouldnt want to ruin the dash or so

Either in the arm rest or lower panel in the drivers footwell. I wouldn't want it detracting from the OEM look.

Originally I was going to put it in the center arm rest console, but I use it moreso as a "junk drawer" so I can only imagine things hitting it once in awhile. Considering I tried to figure out the pinout for the MMI center panel, I'm hesitant to buy and rig up the "drive select" button as the Bilstein button has 5 wires coming from it. I have no idea what any of them are since the system isn't installed.

So think I'm going to put it in the glovebox. There is a spot that is kind recessed and hopefully that button is shallow enough to not hit when the door is closed.

Getting them installed on Saturday so can't wait for the dramatic change in the handling.

Really looking forward to reading about this once you've got it installed. It's a setup I've been looking at myself so your feedback would be great :)

Just an update for those that are searching...

Ended up hooking up the Drive select center console switch to control the coilovers from comfort and sport. Works incredibly well and a better option than drilling a hole somewhere in the cabin.

Also have the coilovers installed and been running on them for about 3 months. Went directly autocrossing after install and WHAT a difference from stock setup! http://www.audiworld.com/forums/aud...b16-ride-control-review-2884481/#post24694004

How do you get the B16 coilover mode (comfort, normal and sport) to tie up to each of the Drive Select modes though?

Or do you use the dash button to set the coilover first, then use either the MMI or the * button on the steering wheel to set the ADS mode afterwards?

@pat15312 I have a base model car that doesn't have the ADS installed so this was just to use the switch to control the Coilovers. You could, with some relays, make it so, two taps would turn on coilovers and single tap would turn on just drive select. Switch is pretty simple in build (momentary switch). There is also the other three blank switch to the right of the drive select button that could be used too if you had ADS installed.

It would be awesome to be able to pair each of the ADS settings with a suspension setting properly by having the iRC unit dynamically read what ADS setting the car was currently in by tapping into the CAN-BUS. This same principal could work with valves for exhaust systems which would be cool... I'm sure some clever person could work this out!

That's already done by a few aftermarket exhaust makers (on the 8v) so don't see why kW or someone could make a suspension that did the same!
