hi had my dics and pads changed been back to garage 3 time with brake squeaking ive done around 600miles on them so ive had enough and am looking at buying and fitting some myself only problem is when i put my reg into gsf carparts for less or euro caer parts theres a few different pads available which do i need front only current pads are federo which ive been told are just cheap

I had this problem until I could confirm what size discs I had fitted. I measured them as the 312mm variant and also confirmed it with Audi customer service, this then corresponded with ECP with a PR number 1LF & 1LT and I just matched the pads to the same PR number.

The only problem with Eurocarparts is that they have two versions for the same pads that I needed at the moment. The one with the latter ECP code is to match the latest VAG pads as they've apparently made the tabs at the end a little stronger.....or so I was told.

Do you know what make pads they fitted?

Fit the standard Pagid pads from ECP, they'll be all you need, without the singing. Just take one to an ECP counter and they'll match them up.

hi there it says ferodo on the pads

I don't know what standard Ferodo pads are like but I know from experience that the DS2500 pads squeal like a pig on heat. One way we found to reduce it was use a thin layer of Mintex Ceratec on the back of the pads.

As Soot1 has said basically change them for some ECP Pagid pads.

That's what I'm looking to do but there's a couple on euro car parts so not sure which one is right as both come up for my reg plate same with other car parts place's

Give Audi a ring on 0800 699 888 and they will tell you what size discs you have and then it's easy to find what pads you need. They can normally do it off your reg number but have your VIN handy just in case.

You'll be faffing around for days going by the internet and phone calls to find the right size, they'll all give you different sizes. Take the existing ones to the ECP counter and get the right size first time.

do you mean take the disc into them or the current pads ?

And measure your discs whilst your under there, so you know the size next time you want brake parts.
