Hi all,
I am thinking of installing a dash cam, but before we all shout " there is a dash cam section " I have looked there but only really got one recommendation.
All I am looking for is one that records well but also has the " parking mode" so a little added security when the vehicle is parked.
What do you guys use?

I do like the look of this set up but I have rear blinds fitted and wonder if the camera would see through them and I don't want to cut them, also what powers the camera when vehicle parked, does it have a battery With enough capacity to run all night?
Looks like I will have to spend more than I thought but I want one that works!!

You hard wire it & use a powermagic Pro.The powermagic stops the power if battery gets too low so you can start the car next day.
It's never drained the battery though

Nice choice but maybe a bit much for an old B6 oil burner may just wait untill I upgrade her.

A4 b6's cig lighter is always live aswel so must be hard wired or another source like a powerpack.

I've got plenty of power sources, that's not the issue it was more to avoid battery drain.the power magic pro will do what I need for an extra £45

This is what I've just had installed. Not convinced about the parking mode personally. Had mine wired up using the in car charger and an extra cigarette lighter installed behind dash near fuse box, works well, nice and clear!

I've just installed a V3 on mine
Pictures great quality
Went for the power interface too so motion or bump is always active when cars parked

2x 128gb micro SD cards aren't cheap though lol

I must have been lucky with mine as I got one included just a 32GB. Still a fair few hours recording time.
Don't forget to format the card in the camera itself..

I take it from the spec that this camera doesn't have night mode?

I'm a little confused now, just had a quick browse of the instructions via the link on the sellers page, it says that in order for motion to work you need a different mount which is not available????

Incorrect mat
Motion works as is
It's parking gaurd that requires the additional mount

Ok,so what is parking guard, I just presumed that was the camera will record if the car is hit whilst parked.
I think I've confused myself now:wtf:

I'm going to gonfirbthus camera anyway and will be ordering the AV out lead aswell, is it an easy mod to get the image to display on my screen, I like the sound of that

Found this in terms old inter web, seems to clear thing up.

Just to clarify,

When parked you have the following options:

1. Turn the camera off by removing power.
2. Turn the camera off using the power button.
3. Provide power and use motion detect - the camera will continuously capture video and will record a short clip if it detects motion within the video image. This is not recommended for hot temperatures since the processor and image sensor are kept very busy.
4. Remove power and use Parking Guard - if the camera detects a shock on the G-sensor then it will wake up and record a clip using its internal battery for power - obviously time limited due to only having a small battery.
5. Use the Parking Guard Mount - when parked the camera will switch to low frame rate recording and will record everything that happens but will return to full frame rate for a while if it detects a shock on the G-sensor.

Does anyone know how long this camera takes to go into standby in order to set the sensitivity on the motion detection?. It says in the destructions that " when there isn't any obvious motion detected the camera will switch to standby" then once motion is detected it will record until 15 seconds after the motion stops. Now I am currently recovering from back surgery so am only able to set this up on the bench using a battery charger as a power source rather than in the vehicle, I have had it running for ages now with no movement and it is still recording ( red light flashing) rather than flicking into standby.
Cheers
Matt
