So much for my air con regass, it lasted 5 days before exploding at AitP! Lol. Cue me opening the bonnet to see a plume of ac gas, I thought I blew the engine up!! Then a few passing bystanders started taking pics of the engine bay like it was something special...OMFG! Looool
Guess there was a weakness in the system previously for it to lose its original gas in the first place, and the regas just finished it off! :(
The drive home was baking, I felt like a steamed lobster when I got back.

Sorry JoJo, but this is hilarious!

Maybe cut the roof off and turn it into a proper pimp machine? Then there's no need for aircon anyway.

Don't worry Paul, you know deep down its not my type of car, but I fancied being a chav for one season! Those wheels will be replaced with a set of genuine BBS once I get my act(and air con) together!

Having only just got my a3, over the last couple of days I've done a oil, air & cabin filter and oil change. Got a second key cut and programmed it myself sorted out the rear speakers. So quite happy at the moment. Need the timing belt, water pump and coolant flush done, don't think I'd be capable to do the timing belt/ water pump so to the mechanic in the next few days.
Davyjp.

Just replaced the auxiliary water pump and am now in the middle of taking apart my Xenon headlights (due to dirt on the inside - sigh). So my bumper is off and front end wrapped in a tarp due to rain. Need to buy a heat gun but Screwfix have a 2kw one for a tenner.
Also fixed a few sill issues where over the years the tyre monkeys have managed to bend the metal lip in places fetching off the underseal. Rust removed, smoothrite and Dinitrol 445 applied - great results (didn't have to take the plastic sideskirt all the way off and left it attached at the door sill bit).

raided this for some parts - too bad the rear end was so badly damaged as thats where some important bits i needed are

A trip down the M1 to R-Tech Performance

I had a nightmare on my hands last night, there's a company here surveying the roads for a week,in a convoy driving at 1mph! So I'm driving home from work and come up behind a huge queue of traffic behind this lot of idiots at rush hour doing their surveying. So I just happen to look down and my temp needle is almost off the gauge. So I temporarily sh17 myself, then the red temp warning light comes on 2sec later! So I pulled over for 10mins and the traffic is starting to become insane,so I decided to turn it round and head back the way i came and throw it down a side road. Left it there and rang the Mrs. Was thinking the worst all night I must admit! So this morning I went off and got a new thermostat, pulled the old one out on the side of the road,(was slightly expecting it to be this!cambelt was last done 18k ago!) then had a bit of a feel round inside......oh god,the water impeller feels like it's in bits! So I fitted the thermostat anyway, then jumped back in the Mrs' car on the hunt for a new water pump and cambelt,an hour later I'm back at the Audi and decided to fire it up and nurse it back to work,(it's only a few miles!) turning it on when I needed then coasting all the way where I can switched off. So this is what I came across.

Turns out the pump still has 02 stamped on it and is gen Audi,so my guess is that it's the original, how has it managed to get to 134k mls with that pump? Was relieved to get it back together and running properly again!

Cars looking good mate, I've got a black s3 facelift too. Your car is were I want mine to be. What size spacers did you use?

Thanks dude! I've got 10mm at the front and 15mm rears. Mines actually a pre facelift but it's pretty much a facelift now! Lol.

Well you had me fooled! Looks good. Thanks for the spacing info. :)

Gops, your car looks lovely.

Can you shed any light on your wheel centre caps? I have the same wheels as you but different centres.

Cheers.

Went for a quick surf, put my weird tyre rolling sound down to a flat spot on a tyre so going to get them changed next week.

Also picked up my hire car for my trip away with work this week to Port Talbot. It's a vauxhall mokka, 1.6 petrol, gutless engine, surprisingly small interior (cant fit my surfboard inside it, but i can in my a3!) a few gadgets to play with but overall it's pretty awful.

Took my car for a remap this morning. Pretty happy with the results!

Having been told that you couldnt buy the clips in the window mech that fail by my local audi dealer, called them back with the part number (googled), and they had a pair in stock. Collected.

Ordered engine oil and k&n filter from opie oils for a service, as well as 5l of gearbox oil for the box and diff change as its just clicked over 100k.

Have a remap at Bill's on Oct 10th, and a trip to the nurburgring the following day. Will be making sure all is tip top before Bill see's it.

Also ordered a clip from ebay for the front headlamp level.....the one that snaps.

What is it with S3's and brittle plastics?

Hey mate, could you give me the link for the clip on eBay? Please. Mines broken off too and I don't fancy buying a whole new unit. :)

Gave the old car a good detail inside and out, ripped out the tints in the rear windows, found them to be too dark and made the car look like a van! They were 20% tints.

Then I decided it was time to treat it to a few extras! ;)

That's next weekend sorted!! :D

Trying to decide if i should keep my ali pipes polished or paint them black, i'm leaning towards black at the moment.
