Swerved to avoid the worlds biggest pothole and hit the b*stard curb instead!

How much do people think/know a genuine replacement will cost?

I feel your pain, I've did it 'twice'!
It's like a plaster, you have to rip it off quickly so it doesn't hurt as much, 2nd time isn't as bad as you don't care as much :(

I'm crying for you buddy :(

I think I'd rather stick a red hot poker in my eye than do that to one of my alloys! Absolutely determined it isn't gonna happen to me although I can see that swerving to avoid something is probably the hardest to avoid.

At least parallel parking we can leave a 2 foot gap so we're nowhere them pesky curbs ;)

Suck it up man... We've all been there, or will
This was mine soon after getting my car detailed and protected... I put it down to karma, screwing with me.

Proper diamond cut repair is gonna set you back about £100

Was it a genuine pothole? Please tell me you're not one of those morons who insists on swerving round every manhole cover? :)

I'm just outside Chester
That's handy, I have the phone number of the guy that fixes alloys for Cheshire Oaks Audi, if you want it send me a PM. Luckily I've not had to use him, but apparently his work is fantastic and will even do it at your home or place of work.

I also have the number for their paint repair guy ;)

Wanty had his repaired within the hour looking at his thread

Your damage is deeper. Might need an aluminium fill and cut back job.

No good us speculating!

The advice I got was as follows:

Can send your wheel off you'll not get it back for 4 days, cost £600ish they'll refurb the whole wheel you'll never see the fix.

Or...

I can rub it down polish it in £40 just don't use it for an hour.

Also... The rim is subsectible to this damage from potholes, kerbs etc as no tire protection. This will happen again with day to day driving time and time again depending on driving style.

Option one buy tires with better rim protection.
Option two spray the wheels black/grey so the diamond cut is easier to protect/repair.

The diamond cut part is easy to fix but to the eagle eyes you'd see the repair. If the scuff is in the grey part it's much much harder to repair.

My opinion. **** wheel design/tire option on a car where you'll drive it to tuck in on a roundabout or corner where you'll get this kind of damage, to get power out.

Either way a ****** on a new motor!!!

My other option..

£650 for a new wheel from Audi. I have painfully paid that after damaging the whole rim.

If your serious about getting a OEM replacement, don't go to a dealer as they add a mark up. Go direct to TPS.

Do you have the details for TPS? Thanks

It's the VAG group owned parts supplier. They usually supply to the trade, but just say your a cash sale and they will do you a price including VAT.

There is one in Chester too :salute:

Thank you. Much appreciated.

Any idea on the part number? I would go and take the wheel off but I'll only start crying again if I see "it"

No need. Just given them your number plate and they will find it from the VAG system.

That is minimal damage for a driving incident, my mate damaged half his wheel in a similar incident, although his pothole was in fact a horse box...

I know I'm being a tart & it's a tiny mark. I just hate the fact it's there!

Thanks for everyone's help/advise. I will man up now and get it sorted one way or another

Get yourself to the wheel specialist - they have a Chester branch. They do the repairs in Leeds for bentley, Porsche, Aston and Audi for when customers like me demand a proper (ie not a smart repair at the side of the road) wheel refurb.

Mine took 3 days, full wheels off job but properly repaired.

Incidentally I chose the optional 10 spoke wheels for my S3 for the very reason that they are easy to repair & I can change the colour with ease too. No diamond faces.

Never thought of it this way, but if they are £600 per wheel you could sell the other good three on here for £400 each, which would then pay for a non Audi set and be different :)

Good reason to get better wheels now
