Due to a few unfortunate events my s3 has been seriously and shamefully neglected. I've had her garaged for two years now and haven't started her once :disappointed:. I want to get her running again over the next month but I'm worried about damaging the engine and turbo. I will do the obvious, turn the engine by hand, oil change and all filters. Is there anything else I should do or be aware of? Any advice will be greatly appreciated.

same mate my cars been off the road for two years now also and I'm looking to get her back up to scratch! I have been starting mine and taking it up and down the lane at my mum and dads once every couple of months. Cant wait to get back into it!

I remember liking your car a lot from AITP a few years ago. Glad to hear you've been giving her a little run every now and then. I'm fully expecting to have a can of worms once I've got her started.

Blimey, blast from the past!! Come on chaps, get them running! Check all the hoses, tighten them after a few heat cycles, change oil. New fuel too, unless you have a full tank of 2 year old fuel. Haldex service I would do, check brakes for siezing etc.. Should be fine tbh :)

Nice one Gops! I'll definitely do that. Not much fuel in the tank as it got a bit expensive as a daily driver.

well i`ve been driving mine for 11 years now ..........

2 years off the road.... you must have other toys to play with lol

This is where I confess and beg for forgiveness. My smart might look like a toy but I can assure you that it's not much fun

Remove the spark plugs and pour a little diesel down each cylinder, then leave over night, change oil, filters and plugs, drain, flush and refill coolant, a new battery will probably be needed, check all the brake and fuel lines, especially rubber hoses for perishing, drain old fuel, you will need to remove old fuel from all the lines, turn the engine over by hand with plugs removed before starting to make sure it's not seized, then fire it up, best of luck.

Much appreciated ayfreetee! I would not have thought about the diesel tip.
Is it possible to completely drain the fuel without a ramp?

You can remove the fuel pressure regulator from the right hand side of the fuel rail, place lots of rag over the fitting and turn the ignition on to pump out the fuel, it will take quite a few attempts, as the pump will keep turning off when the engine doesn't start, be careful there are no sparks to ignite the fuel or the rags.

Gotcha! Thanks for the help guys!
Hopefully she'll be up and running by October
