Yes comp th's. 16 x 8's.
Stripped interior out on this one, it's running a Rs1800i 130bhp zetec lump.

The blue one's on 17 x 7.5 Borbet C's.
Running in a 2 litre zetec turbo lump.
I've always had orions and love the fact there so rare on the roads now.

Like a nice Onion :) Good choice with the Saphire Cosworth spoiler on the bootlid. Puzzled why yuou didn't opt for the 2 litre Zetec over the RS1800 unit as teh RS1800 never actually makes the claimed figures.

Do you use PassionFord.com ? Sure I recognise the red one from there

The 1800 turned up at the right price and they go straight in.:salute:

Yes I'm on passionford.

my dad used to have one of these with the spot lights in blue. it was a 1.6 ghia if i remember rightly. my mates used to be well jealous when i got picked up on a friday.

both look tidy mate! good job

I had one, loved it! Couple of pics.... Before, middle, after!!!

Mk 1 onions all the way, loved my Old Ghia, diamond white with twin 40 carbs, 60mm lowered, with a 4" stainless, used to shoot proper flames out the back on over run, pop pop bang bang, love it hahahah

Haha good old Orion's. I had a 1986 1.6 ghia and put a full cartel bodykit on with rs bonnet vents just like the blue one. I also put on a 4 inch peco exhaust, lowered it 60mm with 16inch 3 spoke alloys(all the rage then lol), full chrome petrol cap, sierra cosworth boot spoiler ,morrette quad headlights(which looked the dogs doodahs and re-sprayed it velvet purple. Then put lime green piping all the way around. Those were the days lol and I loved em.

I like them, I brought a cammed 1.6 ghia off my uncle for peanuts that he had sitting around because of a blocked injector. Abit of pro-boost in the fuel and it soon cleared a mile or 2 down the road. it had a set of 15's on it and clear indictors. it was the blue and silver edition. tbh I stripped it and scrapped it as it was only a temp car till my series 1 came on road, but it gave me smiles :)

A few better pics... red orion was sold on after moonstone blue one did a few miles...

A friend of mine has an RS Turbo,I will have to ask him to buzz me when he gets it out to get a few pics,it is in similar nick to your Orion

Very cool, not seen an onion in years!
The moonstone one? Has that an escort front end though?
I used to love fords, then the mark 5 escort and mongeo killed it for me! Lol,
Love the old stuff, my mate has a 3 door D plate cossy in black!

Won some cheap Imolas to stick some sticky tires on for 0-60's...
They'll need spacing out abit, gonna refurb them over winter...

Quickly wiped over with alittle sealer and back to the Borbets...

Love it on the Borbets.Seeing a nice Ford always makes me want to get my RS Turbo back out of the garage. Not long to go now before that happens as the house move is almost sorted

All ready for the Gold Cup car show @ Oulton Park tomorrow :top:

Does it handle well around the track ?

Had the Orion 1600 i Ghia in an auto light blue....was a cracking car used to get pulled by the police regularly !

Had 125mph out of it, kick down on the auto was amazing for its time....fond memories !

Still slowly upgrading:- custom exhaust manifold is on after many weeks of tweaking, turbo's back on and it runs again!

I've got a couple of hoses to change and the bumper can go back on

And before the manifold upgrade, I decided to have a complete custom 90's spec interior made, 90's spec Escort RS turbo material. New retrimmed front seats are still in the making, just waiting on some more nos material)

A few pics from Fordfair

And back home

the new interior finally...

Nice

Nice

Lovely Orion and good to see that it's still on the road. I think I might still have the original copy of Fast Ford when this was featured. Just out of interest, that red Orion parked next to yours, was the plate something like "D8 GET"? If so, I think he used to be on an old forum "UKFiestaNetwork". Think his username was MR G or something like that. His build thread was a great read! Went to Ford Fair 2012 and was great fun, I put a learner car through the 0-60! lol

Yes you've got the right person/ car there ...

A bit late in here, but I had a couple, both bought new from Ford main dealer, a, "A plate" silver 1.6 Ghia Injection and a Mercury Grey "E plate" 1.6 Ghia Injection, only ran both for about 3 years each before leaving Ford for a very nice almost new VX Cav GSI 4X4 - probably best car I've ever owned!

Finally back together and ready for taxing in April
Plan another map and boost increase mid April

Swapped the oil return hose for a proper oil ASH
And fitted another bottom boost hose
Bumper back on and washed quickly

Had the Orion out today, dropped the wife, daughter and mother in law off in town to go shoe shopping

Once dropped off I went and topped up with fresh Optimax and put 20 miles on it, all the readings on the wideband seemed good but it's still going for another tweak to check up
Even had time to stop for a few photos

Once back from its blast out I got the snow foam going

Washed, dried and quick detailed

Overall it all seemed good with the new manifold, only downside is I've melted another bonnet cable ( not really sure what to do now!!! I've heat wrapped everything, cable had heat protective skeeving)
I really don't wanna go the bonnet pin route if I can help it
