S3 seems to have turbo stall when going from 1st to 2nd. Only happens when I launch it and doesn't do it in any other gears. It's standard apart from stage 1. I'm going to get my mate to plug it in over the weekend and check for faults but I was just wondering if anybody has any ideas. Just thought I'd point out it was doing it before the remap. If I don't launch it but still change gear quick from 1st to 2nd it fine

You may need to explain your definition of turbo stall...

If you mean boost drops off then it would be worth logging to see whats going on as its plausible that the ECU isn't happy about something and going into soft limp under the conditions you describe...

Sounds like the turbo's fine if its is not doing it under less traumatic conditions...

Erm the best way to describe it is there seems to be a pause when changing gear before it kicks in again. Like I said only does it from 1st to 2nd when pushed to the max, absolutely fine in all the other gears. I have been told it could be possible overboost. It's completely fine under all other conditions

If it's an over boost then it would potentially cause soft limp...

Dodgy recirculating valve would be my guess, but get it scanned would be your first move.

I was going to replace these things anyway because they're probably 13years old now so hopefully that will cure it. I'll get it plugged in over the weekend and see if anything comes up. Thanks for the replies

The fact this happens when you launch the car aggressively shifting from 1st to 2nd may indicate the n249 interfering with boost.
The n249 opens the dump valve when the esp kicks in.
Was/is your esp on?
Yes esp was on

ESP won't like launching... Turn it off and see if the problem persists

ESP is next to useless even on a stage 1 car... back in the day I used to systematically turn it off when starting the engine but I have coded it out altogether now...

Tufty you hardly remember what you changed your coding to ?
