Carista App

Yes, be carefull, you can do some damage with it. I activated alarm beep and rear lights on with DRL (this should be standard setting IMHO) and rip CD's so far.

I actually have most features on as standard, there are a couple of things i want to try though.

I've done much the same as you via Carista; beep when locking, seatbelt chime off and rear lights on with DRLs. I'd like to enable battery level and oil temperature, which I think involve hidden menu settings. I think I'll wait for Nigel.

Good job. I've sent for that and look forward to the tweeking. Thanks lads.

Well Plugged it in today and done the needle sweep, chirp, and reverse mirror. However the mirror will not return at all, you have to turn the knob from passenger to the central position. Would like my rear parking sensors to show up visually as well. No setting for that on carista.

Sadly the mirror is correct, you have to turn the knob to the left position for it to work and then back agian to return. If you leave the knob in the left position the morror should return when you drive away, over 18 or 20 mph.

Ah that's it. I just moved forward in the driveway so not enough speed built up for it to reset. Thanks.

Is this the correct bluetooth adaptor I need for the Carista app to work via Aple iOS?
Amazon product

'Goliton® WIFI Wireless OBD2 Car Diagnostic Reader Scanner Scan Tool for ANDROID / PC - Black'

It says Android, so it's no good for iOS. Let me see if I can find a link for the one I got, which works a good 'un.

@jdp1962 - Thanks Jeff

In the Amazon ad (don't know why the ASN forum won't post links to Amazon) it says this device is compatible with IOS devices

Of course, I've no idea if it works on Airfix models. :)

Used this yesterday on the B8 S4. It has a lot more functionality than that available on my previous B8.5 1.8 Tfsi. Although most of the functions are standard on the S4.
Enabled rear lights as DRL, emergency brake flash, mirror dip on reverse and hidden menu (not sure what extra this gives me? So may disable)

How do you enable rip CD's? Is it hidden menu or Carista setting?

The one extra thing I'd love to do - enable the oil temperature reading - is missing from the app.

Great app this. So far i have done the following:

Lap timer
Oil Temp
Footwell lights change on dash - saved but didnt do anything??

How did you activate oil temp? I couldn't find that option anywhere.

Oil temp is part of the lap timer update. Once you've enable the lap timer, oil temp is shown when you switch the DIS to Lap Timer mode (Double Click Reset button to switch modes)

And can the lap timer be done through Carista, or is that a VCDS-only mod?

Evening all, do you plug in the adapter and start the app with the engine running?

Regarding oil temp, I might be wrong but I'm sure I read somewhere that it didn't work on MMI 3G+ cars for some reason

Should be alright for me then as I don't have MMI 3G+

Just got to get my as s into gear & start having a play with it

When putting the wifi ELM (as I use Apple iOS) in the OBD port and it does its thing with the Carista app, there seems to be a lot of clicking / whirring noises coming from under the bonnet
The ignition was on but engine off. Doors and bonnet shut too & I was in my garage with the doors shut

Is this normal?

My S4 like my previous B8 A4 does make some noise when you open close the doors/bonnet/boot but not the the extent when the ELM is plugged in

Just making sure before I proceed any further

I believe this is normal, and i have had it on other cars too. I think it happens as the car cycles through each of the modules. You normally hear some interference/low tone from the speakers too at one point.
