just bought myself an 2009 sprint blue S3 with 66k on the clock. I also own a 2.0 tfsi 8P2.

Just noticed tonight when I Rev the s3 in neutral or in 1st gear with the clutch in it only revs up to 4k miles yet my 2.0 tfsi a3 can Rev to the line.

I've had an 8p2 s3 few years back and can't remember it doing this. Does anybody else S3 do this.

Thanks

I thought it was programmed in to do that I'm not sure

Yes, I'm sure they're supposed to be like that.

yes it does. some kind of safety feature...

Put your handbrake up and turn your traction control off, you can rev it higher then, that works with my 2.0 tdi it holds at 2k from standing

I think it is a safety feature, if I use 1st gear, clutch in, it normally doesn't do it, if it does it first time, back off and try again and then it normally lets you rev to the true redline

never know they did that. not that i've ever revved it that hard when stationary.

4k seems like a nice rpm to be getting a quick launch at too.....
