Jonathan's A3 TDi Thread.

haha oh aye, right hole in pocket lol!

And yeah big thanks to your re-assurance over FB regarding clutch! It now seems to feel a lot better and is driveable. Can now set off with no gas and just use clutch. The pedal is still firm but have got used to it now and feels normal.

I just hope I didn't make wrong choice, as I think a single mass would have been better suited.

You manage to get internals sorted for yours?

sounds good, any time.

Why'd you think a single mass would have been better?

nope not managed to source any although 3 have sold that i had my eye on this week :(. would like to get some internals built into a pump so i can just swap mine over without having to take it apart and do the same if/when it comes to put back to standard etc but we shall see.

Little update:

Car waiting freshly cleaned for Rick to work his magic!

Got to Ricks ready for 2+ software

Standard run with all hardware attached.

Quick vid:

The results:

The car was an absolute dream to drive home. The map was spot on, would highly recommend Rick to anybody who is contemplating getting a map done. Fair enough a lot of people are maping cars these days, but Rick has worked on these before and keeps getting excellent results. But more importantly he appreciates its our pride and joys so goes that extra mile to ensure its how we want it.

I have de wipered the car before but used a rubber grommet so I decided I wanted to make it look frsher/cleaner.

As apose to buying the glass insert I seen a chap selling plastic inserts on FB, the plastic is a high gloss colour so looks exactly same as a glass and is a fraction of the price.

After:

Also had Sanni from on here come over as he lives relatively local so i fit him a cold air feed like mine, heat shield which sits bellow intake pipe and a spacer collar on his BCS exhaust. His car is beautiful, not only one of the best colours but the pan roof really does it for me.

Seen another sprint blue S3 @ Scarborough on Saturday:

Little vid of some pops and bangs :D

Car been treated to full 3 stage polish with wet sand.

Absolutely beautiful job he did of it, anybody around Leeds area that is intrested in any detailing/painting work I can get you in contact with Stu.

Another update. Have had front and back bumper re painted due to stone chips and slight damage on rear. Wheels have been refurbed in a brighter silver and then fresh tyres put on (assymetric f1's) and some H&R springs fitted. Car is ever so slightly lower now the springs have settled but you will get a good perception of what it looks like from the pics.

Also cleaned brakes up front and back. Snapped front carrier bolt in the process  PITA but managed to drill it owt.

Could do with a smidgen of wheel spacer-ing and forgive me for sounding like an idiot but you seriously didn't go through all that trouble and not paint your discs in silver??

Anyway, car looks great!! What do you think of H&R springs, I find them bit stiffer than Eibach...

Yeah im going to get some spacers - only going for some small amount though (5mm - probs wont even tell haha) as I often have people in car and don't want to damage/scrub/catch new tyres.

And yeahh don't get me started with the paint! I was going to do calipers front/back, dust shields, carriers in black, and centre of disks silver. Casual strole down to halfrauds as iv tried other paint in past and it has blistered up with the heat and I know halfrauds is bang on..... walked in and was straight back owt empty handed lol. None in stock in any of the 3 branches in Leeds! So that's this weeks plans to fit spacers and do some painting - that's if I manage to get my hands on some.

Yeah they feel OK atm, not really been on a massive drive but going to and from work they feel ok lol. Can defiantly feel the road a lot more though, I just cannot get over how near perfect "lows" it gives you, or ill re phrase it gets the car sat nicely ontop of tyre with minimal arch gap and I can still get over all speed bumps perfect. Big thanks to Damian @ DPM aswell for sorting me owt again, whilst were on topic of the springs :)

Yup Damian is a top bloke got mine off him too.

Lol fair enough, I knew there would be a good reason you didn't do any painting!

Using willtheyfit.com I put in your OEM wheel spec which is 18x7.5 ET54 and then I put mine in (which I know rubs a tiny bit with 4 adults in) 18x8J ET42 and the poke is 18mm.

So if you went with 10mm spacers on the rear and 5mm each side on the front you should be ok? Or 10mm all round? Be sure to use hub centric spacers though! Damian can sort you out with H&R Trak+ which aren't cheap but best on the market imho.

And that would still leave at least 8mm all round clearance which could account for the fact that different tyres are different widths. For example, my Vred Ultrac Vorti are so wide in 225 they could easily pass for 235 width.

Yeah all been well abit of painting, im stuck with ****** rust rings on the disk aswell where i grinded it too far back when removing the lips :(

need some excessive braking to get it back smooth and rust free.

And thank you for working out the spacers required, yes i will probably end up going for the 15 rear 10mm front or 10 all round as alot of people confirm this is the "perfect fit". People will just have to catch the bud, or walk lol

Just paint the disc where it's rusty and if the paint needs to come off when you brake it will burn it off anyway. You should have seen the state of my friends A4 avant after I'd finished with it. Took about a week and a lot of smell but eventually the paint burnt away and now he's left with clean, OEM looking brakes that aren't rusty.

Edit - sure you mentioned Leeds somewhere, I'm only in Dewsbury so if we ever have a local meet, let me know.
