Hi all,

Been getting lots of wheel spin with traction control off, or a constant flashing of the traction light with traction control on. Any idea what might be causing it??

Tires are relatively new, although not brand new. Tires are the Eagle F1 Asymmetric (Dunlop, I think).

Stock Audi S3.

Not sure if it's relevant but the emission control warning light has come on twice and been reset by Audi Assist.

Sounds like it's only 2 wheel drive !!

If you spin the wheels on a turn you should be able to tell if the back bites or not

Audi Assist just confirmed it is the Haldex unit so off to the garage again :/

Thanks for the tip off!

Do report back if they change just the pump, or pump and controller.

I'd also be interested to hear if you experience slow speed tyre scrubbing on full lock, in car parks, when you get it back. See my Haldex thread for more on this!

Will let you know.

What's "slow speed tyre scrubbing"? Curious as I hear a rubbing noise when on full lock at a slow speed (like in a car park) - no idea what it is but it's the sort of sound that makes you shiver.

At full lock in a quiet car park - you can hear a speed related rubbing noise from the front, this is the rubber gaiters rubbing - its louder if they are wet (eg raining). This is "normal".

If however you hear a "grittiness" or "grabbiness" (tyre scrubbing) from the rear of the car - this is the Haldex not dis-engaging like it's supposed to, at slow speeds.

Ah right - thanks. Good to know it's "normal".

They have just called me. They are ordering both the pump and the controller just in case. They will be testing tomorrow and wanted to make sure they had both parts depending on what's needed.

Also needs a new variable valve (related to the camshaft issue) but that's just an unrelated annoyance! All on warranty at the moment. *phew*

Ive been told they have ordered a replacement 'diff' (the last one they ordered ended up having a turbo in the actual box?!?!). It was due to some contamination in the oil inside the diff apparently.

Yeah? Was a little surprised when they said that but figured it might have been the same thing as the Haldex mentioned before so didn't really question it.

Have you had your car back yet, what else have they changed, and have they fixed it?

Picked it up an hour ago. They replaced the diff and that's it. Water contamination. Was quite a big job to do apparently. It has seemed to fix the issue thankfully.
