Bye Bye S3, and I guess Audi Sport ..

@Kugaman1 - unfortunately yes it was Peter Vardy, they've hardly got a great reputation and I also know someone who bought an Ewok from the adjoining dealership and had nothing but issues with sales, after service, cracking panoramic roofs etc. so it would not have been my first choice.

However DFI engine Boxsters seems to be very hard to find, there were 9 in the whole of the Porsche UK network, and I could not find any at the usual specialists (JZM, RSJ etc.) .. so it seemed daft not to look at the local car, that was the spec I wanted with a 2 year warranty just because it was Peter Vardy. I guess I'm buying the car, not relying on the dealer to be much use.

They have exceeded my expectations so far I must admit, fuel tank of fuel, years road tax, warranty extended on top of current one, swapped wheels that I wanted, and I got a choice of courtesy car when mine went back in for a SwissVax as part of the preparation (I wanted the car early so they didn't get a chance to do this before I picked the car up). Young sales guy was a petrolhead too, no pressure to do the deal, quite happy to speak to Porsches.

I have my eyes wide open though, it's only the start of owning the car so will reserve judgment of the dealer until I have an actual problem !

I agree that if practicality isn't an issue (and it wasn't in your case), there are cars out there on the market.

For me, S3 is a great compromise. It is sporty and I can still put some stuff in the back, unlike in a Porsche.

Hopefully it will all be a pleasureable ownership experience!

When I dealt on my "ewok" I negotiated mats, flaps, tank of fuel etc for free.....guess what, none of them there on collection.

I kept a log - before during and after the sales/collection process I had to make a total of 16 calls to them.......not a SINGLE one was returned! It would have only been 4 calls, but ai had to keep ringing them back because they didnt respond.

Singularly the worst Dealership I have ever dealt with! Funny as it was just about the most expensive car I had ever bought aswell!

Peter Vardy will never get a penny from me ever again.....

Cracking decision changing to the Boxster! My old boss has 1 and even though it was a 2.7 and old model it still made me grin like a kid in a candy shop when I got a shot in it!! I would imagine the newer models with better tech and interiors will be even better! I personally have been looking at Cayman's to replace the TT, haven't driven one yet but guessing won't be far off from the boxster.

Enjoy mate and all the best. :)

@HansW the Boxster (if you don't need any more the 2 seats) is probably the most practical 2 seater you can buy with a trunk and a frunk !

Granted I'm not going to do tip runs, or get any sort of big TV or anything in it  but it has more than enough space for a week away, couple of suitcases etc. Myself and my daughter went camping with my last Boxster, we had the tent, sleeping bags, cool bag, food, clothes, the lot in the car.

I cannot stress how much fun my girls 2 seater car is, Ok so it's not going to keep up with the S3 (especially mapped) in a straight line, but it's fun at 5 mph and the noise from that flat 6 with the GT Carnewal exhaust is epic, an S3 will never sound like anywhere near as nice as the howl this thing has!

Aberdeen is supposedly rain 364 days a year, but I think I've had the roof down on almost every trip :yahoo:
