Get in touch with these guys mate...

http://hazzydayz.com/

I looked into doing this myself as I have retro fitted an RNS-E in mine... basics seemed to be a special loom for the airbag if its a two stage one... not sure on other compatibility though...

To get the radio buttons to work required a pre-coded wheel module from an 8P and connect to canbus which I am not sure yours will have being a 1999... I know @Gops was having problems getting his RNS-E to display properly and switch off (I think) because his is a pre-facelift S3 and it was related to the canbus from the clocks...

He may pitch in as I have tagged him...

I didn't go ahead with one as tbh finding the right wheel seemed a nightmare (later wheel controls weren't compatible with the earlier RNS-E or something) and the total cost (unless you find an absolute bargain) was a bit much for what is essentially just a steering wheel

My part number was 8P0 419 091 CR for the wheel. This does look simular to yoirs as it has screw fittings for the airbag. The airbag i used was 8J0 880 201 N this worked absolutly fine and personally i would think it would be fine on urs (however call hazzy dayz and gareth and doug are brilliant just to confirm)

The airbag was 250 from someone on ebay ( if u want i can send u a link to him as he sells multiple of them)

This did come with the wireing harness however as u maybe aware it is a dual stage airbag so you would need it to be re wired for the 8L. I posted mine to hazzy dayz and they did this for me.

It is now fully functional so the horn works and there are no warning lights for the airbag but the buttons on the wheel dont work ( tuffty mentioned this above but mine is a apy and a narrow band ecu so ill doubt unless i spend stupid money i can get the buttons to work especially with my pioneer HU)

There are options out there to get a airbag cover and also the backing plate to wire the horn up and using a 2.2 ohm 0.5 watt resistor to stop the airbag light

On the facebook 8P wall there was a wheel and broken airbag for sale. U could ask him to split the old airbag of and sell to u however i would just get the proper airbag as mentioned above as i wouldnt fancy not having one in this day and age and im unsure on the ins and outs of wireing everthing up without the full working airbag

Here is the info if u want it

I would confirm any part numbers before buying

Ah ok no worries if u do have issues hazzy dayz are great and im all the way near St Ives in cornwall and they still gave a gr8 bit of support... top bunch

RNSE on the PFL isn't a straight forward job. You need a full facelift centre console with a hvac face from a facelift but the unit itself needs to be from an A4. Wiring needs to be modified so the climate works properly. Then the esp and rear heated buttons need moving. The RNSE needs wiring up to canbus facelift clocks imo, otherwise the track info won't work.

This sounds like far more hassle than it's worth
