Hi,

I know you are thinking it is the chain.

I am getting lower limit not reached.

Audi are guessing and want to charge R44000 to fix it. Equivalent is 2200 Pounds.

They have not tested the sensors and I want to test this myself with VCDS.

What cable and software do I need to change these sensors myself?
2X cam sensors and 1X crank sensor(engine speed sensor).

I will order the sensors for a fraction of the price and reset the codes, so at least I feel that i have checked the obvious first.

Please help with photos of the sensors on the engine and software and cable.
Also maybe I can get cheaper sensors from ebay or something/?

What is your engine code? As far as I know, only 04 and 05 3.2's were susceptible to chain failure ?
 
BMJ - Mine is 05. They have so many parts they want to change out, but they don't know what it is for sure.
They offered to do the head and replace the cam adjusters first(R17000) - but still without trying new sensors first.
Also if it is not it, then I must still pay and they do the next step...

I would defo do sensors first. I had a camshaft pos sensor code and crank sensor code on my 04 3.2. I was dreading chain issues too. Changed crank sensor myself for something like £80 for an OEM one, and it cured both codes.
 
OK, bought the crank sensor. also know as the engine speed sensor.
Also getting the VCDS package with dongle and software.
hopefully going to sort this out.

Where is this sensor located?
 
All 3.2 from 2004 to 2009 have possible issues with the chains I'm led to belive guys with 2008 r32 have had chain stretches and issues relating to it
