Please consider the Vred Ultrac Vorti...my diesel is a heavy old bus and with these on the front (budget tyres on the rear) I've yet to make the front break traction in wet or dry...and they don't break the bank.

Also I have 8J wide wheels and there is still a nice rim protector, on standard wheels the rim protection will be even better.

I don't no why but since I put budget tyres on my mark 4 gti and even if it was 100 degrees it was like driving on ice I can't buy budget,
Super sports are only 85 quid on camskill
Thank you though

Cheapest I can find is camskill anyone no anywhere cheaper /special deals on ???

Tyres are like brakes and Marmite.

I think a lot comes down to driving style and suspension setup.

I use PSSs on my car and they work very well as an all rounder but they do lack maximum dry grip by comparison with say R888s but our weather isn't too great right now....

Veryvtrue I really don't like these conti sport contact 5s don't inspire me with confidence

Barum Bravauris 3HM (Barum being owned by Continental).

Had them on for a few months and great in all weather, no signs of wear and great reviews on the net.

The best thing, National Tyres had them on a BOGOF so got both fitted and balanced for £100 all in.

No brainier.

Luckily noticed before I ordered that the 85 was for sport 3 not super sports cheapest I can find supers for is £102, so rather than changing 4 I'm gonna have to put 2 conti sport 5s on as my exhaust is ready end of the month

Cam skill do not currently have Super sports in the correct size and load rating. Need 225 40 r18 92y. Don't get the 88y you are at risk of a blow out.

I've run a fair few tyres on the 8P platform to be fair and multiple times and on 3 cars.

Bridgestones
Michelins
Contis
Toyos
Dunlop Sportmaxx RT

Dunlops were not only the quietest but had what I think to have the most dry grip and in wet weather, they are second to none in my eyes.

I'd choose them again and again.

OK, so I read your post and googled the Dunlops ... http://www.autoexpress.co.uk/accessories-tyres/66052/dunlop-sport-maxx-rt

The first line pretty much sums it up for me! Tyres that have a low rolling resistance are usually lower down on dry grip. I've had Conti 5's, Mich PS2,s and now Mich SS's on my S3 and the SS has the edge over the PS2 and is also a good performer in the wet (but I accept probably not as good as the Dunlop).

I'm not arguing with the whole rolling resistance thingymabob because I don't know enough to, however, I will say that I always question the motives of these magazines and question their funding. Hence why I usually read through tyre reviews.co.uk

As I said above, tyres,as with brakes, are like Marmite....

I had Bridgestones on the car originally and hated them with a vengeance.
Poor wet grip,no progression, and not even very good in the dry,but others are happy with them.

Yeah I looked at the Bridgestone Potenza RE050A 225/40 R18 92 Y XL but I only need 2 tyres on these rims and hate having different brands on the car, think I'll go for them this time next year, have to save up for some new summer tyres now

As above one man's gold is another's cr4p but I really don't like bridgestone tyres. Mind you've I've only experienced them in their run flat version on BMWs.

Think I might just go for it next summer and get some pilot sport cup 2's ,God knows what mileage you would get out of em though

If it's a weekend car then yes, but if you plan on using it in the wet then you may want to rethink your plan - the super sports are about as far as you can go with a good balance between sheer dry grip and wet performance.

If it's raining I can leave it at home if need be :)
