Looking for an easyish way to install the AMI in my original glove box.

There are some parts listed for the glove box that look like they can help. (Clicky for parts page)

Parts 25 and 27.

Does anybody know if the AMI fits into the same housing as the CD changer? is it even the same size?

I am hoping part 25 can be bought and Blue Petered into original glove box and fitted over with under dash mount from ebay for less than £7

Any help or advise is welcome.

psml, Blue Petered, haven't heard that one for ages.
Good luck with your Blue Petered retro fit. Pics when done.

Showing your age if you know Blue Petered.

Thanks for the size info. This means if it is CD changer size then it should hopefully fit into the cd changer support. I will order it, and butcher as necessary.

I'll get pics up if it doesn't look like a dogs dinner when finished.

First off thanks for the help.

The AMI I have bought is the same size as a standard single DIN radio I HOPE.

But I don't think it will fit into a standard radio cage.

My plan was to mount the AMI into its OEM housing then house that in an under dash mount in the glove box but it seems that the OEM housing is part of the £240 glove box.

Unless it fits in the original part number 25 in my first post. Part 25 is just £12+vat and worth a punt.

The other option is to remove the AMI(Silver Gizmo Box Bit) and place it behind the glove box and just have the cable sticking into the glove box. but that is a pain if I want to change cable to use iPod, USB stick or phone.

I will try the cage as its only £3 then try the CD changer mount if it doesn't work. Failing that it will be MDF.

If you end up putting just the silver part behind the glovebox then you could buy a tune2air, plug it in and forget it mate, then you can stream your music by Bluetooth

Small update, the AMI will fit a standard radio cage but it needs a bit sanding down around the edge to fit. With minor mods to the cage with a dermal you can even get the OEM AMI clips to hold it in.

It will then fit into the under dash radio mount and in turn into the standard glove box. I will get this done at some point and post pics but as I have now found out my AMP or subwoofer are not working this mod will need to wait.
