If you have upgraded ya clutch, then I think it's a great addition! After all for the people who are performance driven and want there car to be the best it can be, then this is another great option. It's definately not for everyone though!

But the clutch still doesn't stand up to this sort of abuse.

Thing is with a 4wd car.. Something has to slip when putting big power down, if it's not the tyres then it's the drivetrain.

I've seen propshaft doughnuts torn up on here from launches and at over a grand for a propshaft id rather look after it.

Each to their own and all that but that's just my view from an engineering perspective.

Impressive, would be interested in this for my S3 project next summer

Firstly,as Rick says,it's not something new,it's just new to APR.

Secondly and more importantly for the user, these things are clutch/drivetrain hell.

If you uprate one area of the transmission, all that happens is that the next weakest component becomes the one that breaks.
Now I'm not saying that it cannot or should not be done, but if you eliminate clutch slip with a tougher clutch, the next thing down the line is either propshaft doughnuts as smurfworth said,or the gearbox casing and internals.

I've got programmable LC and flat shift available, but I don't use those,or ALS on mine.

If it's available, ya might as well have it than not have it! At least it gives you the option to use it just that once if the times right for example than not have it and wish for that one time you had it :)

I see what you're getting at.....like smurfworth though,I know people who've snapped driveshafts and another with a wrecked gearbox.

The other point is leaving the rpm hold point to the user.....it's all very well, but the chances of launching at peak torque are apparent....on a race car with uprated everything, thats OK,but on a boggo road car....
