Hmmmm - S = Chrome. It goes way back for me, I guess I'm just a traditionalist:)

Have to admit I prefer the blue painted version, but I have no Audi tradition to guide my thinking so will leave mine in chrome....when it finally arrives. :)

The S4 is stealthy enough and the silver wing mirrors are one of the very few things that give away the power you're wielding......not for me, I'd stick to silver, didn't buy an S4 so I can drive around looking like every other A4 owner on the road.

I finally got my *** into gear and fitted the LED interior light upgrade kit to the S4 that I got from @t8ups

Why Audi do a combination of LED and normal lighting on the ILP for A4/S4 is beyond me

I won't be posting any pics as there is plenty in the 2 invaluable threads which cover this

So first off.
Thanks to @Daggerit

for their great thread's! :thumbs up:

This is what the kit consists of (for a A4/S4 with ILP pack fitted)
From top to bottom -
4 x map reading lights
2 x vanity mirror lights
2 x main interior lights (front)
4 x footwell lights
4 x puddle lights, 1 x glovebox
1 x boot light
4 x active door reflectors lights (LED's shine red)

g0RQYwz.jpg

Fitting -
4 x map reading lights - Rears were easy enough. Fronts were a bit fiddly, but with a bit of patience they went in no probs
2 x vanity mirror lights - Easiest of all. Just used my thumb to prize out the holders
2 x main interior lights (front) - Not the easiest, but once you've removed the frosted diffuser its easy enough (see warrens_S5 & Daggerit threads)
4 x footwell lights - The fronts were bad enough, mainly because of the short wires, but the rears were a right PITA because of a combination of, again short wires, tight access and a really tight fitting holder
4 x puddle lights - Easy enough. 1 x glovebox - Another PITA as the AMI box takes up quite a bit of the glovebox, so more of an access issue
1 x boot light - Easy enough, just a bit of a reach
4 x active door reflectors lights - Like the puddle lights, easy enough

I bought these to help with fitting & TBH found them invaluable. No worries about damaging any parts

Very pleased with effect that this LED light upgrade kit has given to my S4

& a big thanks to Trups for building/supplying the kits :thumbs up:
£65 delivered for 22 LED's ? ****** bargain!

PS I liked the effect that the LED's give so I ended up changing the interior lights in SWMBO Ka. Fortunately there is only 2 (boot & interior light) to change & I already had the LED's in for the change :)

Thought about creating this post in the Detailing section, but it is about my S4 so ...

Been trying out a new QD on my S4 today - Adam's Detail Spray

Tried quite a few QD's & invariably always get rid because I'm not impressed with 'em. However, this one is a different story.

Easy on, easy off to leave super slick deep shine. Smell's nice too!
I would imagine its great for dark cars as a drying aid if you suffer from water spotting

As I broke one of the retaining clips on the rear footwell lights, I thought, as I was putting a new light enclosure in, I may as well show the difference between the LED's

Top one (green) is the standard fit pathetic LED that Audi fit as part of their ILP for the A4/S4
Bottom one (white) is the full fat LED one that comes as part of Trups kit

Thought I would get the 'lawnmower' out when I finished re-installing lol :laugh::laugh:

It really is amazing the difference between the OEM footwell lights and @t8ups' take on them, isn't it?

On a different note, I've had an invite from my dealers to go and drive the full RS range on the 6th Aug at Ragley Hall. There's no track or decent roads there so not sure if I will bother, plus I soul need to take a day off and I'm self employed.....hmmm

Is the invitation transferable? :)

Cool! Linky?
@jdp1962 - PM me for the site. Don't want to get 'em in trouble ;)

Used them quite a few times for various T-shirts. If your going to order one go the next size up as they wash to the right size after the first wash
I got the logo's off 'tinterweb & played around with 'em a little to get the desired effect
I can email the originals to you if you want to use 'em my friend. Just PM me your email & I'll send 'em over

Lol :)

Finally got round to doing the fog light thing
http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/a4-s4-b8-5-front-fog-light-delete.247806/

In the end I haven't removed the fog lights, I've wrapped the lenses in matt black wrap that I got off eBay. It was only £1.88 delivered & its decent quality stuff too
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/190969655428?_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649&var=490212885507&ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT

The fog light surrounds were easy enough to remove & then it was a case of cleaning the fog light lenses and wrapping them in the wrap

All in all about a 10 minute job to do both side's :thumbs up:

I'm really pleased with the results and its looking like I'll keep it like this for the time being. If not its just a case of removing the fog light surrounds and peeling the wrap off
IMO just makes my S4 standout a little from all the other B8.5 A4's on the road :thumbs up:

If no fogs are good enough for the S1, S3 etc then its good enough for me ;)

@Bristle Hound, hey Col, when you talk about removing the fog light surround, are you talking about the whole mesh section or just the trapezoidal bit directly around the lens? Either way, care to provide a "how-to" for a sausage-fingered ******? :)

how is that done, i don't own a lawnmower :)
@kev.s - Use the smaller edge of a piece of rigid plastic, about the size of a credit card. Make sure the mat you are going to do is clean then run the piece of plastic up & down the mat, going in the opposite direction for each stripe so to speak

Just a bit of fun, but makes the interior look nice for photo's / shows etc :thumbs up:

I'm not the only one who does this either BTW

I have been tempted for a while to do the quattro badge thing after reading both
@GlynRS2 post on this
http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/glynrs2s-sepang-blue-s5-sportback-blog.229107/#post-2295886
&
@warren_S5 post
http://www.audi-sport.net/xf/threads/warrens-s5-build-thread.218357/page-10#post-2297342
So after buying one I set about the task
Before -

iiVshcp.jpg

The badge I got from eBay needed some minor 'modification's with a Dremel in order for it to fit ;)
The quattro looks a little out of alignment in the pic below as I hadn't fully tightened the zip ties up
After -

eW6uL1v.jpg

The badge only lasted about 10 mins on the car as personally, the look it was giving me wasn't what I was after TBH

However, the look I have achieved with the front fog lights (or lack off as the case may be) is exactly what I'm after & grows on me the more I see it. I have washed the car since doing the front fogs and after a fair bit of extra jet washing, the wrap on the front fogs is fine

Glad you removed it, Col. It doesn't suit the S4's sleeper character.
