Big job?

Or is the pump timing out causing it to go into limp home mode. I have no VAGcom or VCDS so it'll have to be a fix I can do on my own. Should I have a go at slightly undoing the bolts holding the IP belt on and twist it a degree or so one way, try it and then twist the other way if its not?

Another thing that there is no smoke out the back so Im guessing the injection pump timing is good?... Im going to check all the pipes were put back on correctly and things like the vacuum pump on the left cam is on properly too.

DONE !!!!

I rotated the injection pump sprocket a few degrees anit-clockwise.

It ran smoother than it ever has and no limp mode. Im half way up a Swiss mountain here so I drive up higher for 10 mins then came back down.

No problems.

Im not going to try anything else till Im home. 1200km journey awaits me in 6 days time...

I think I feel confident enough to do anything now. Im going to buy a VAGCOM cable and software when I get back.

Many thanks for everyones help here over the last few weeks!

Well done!
It really would be worth buying VCDS.
You will need to adjust the timing electronically when you get back, although if it's running ok now you have a little time
