Ok I have not posted under the insurance section as that seems to be commercial area.
I am trying to prepare a checklist of what to check on a fully comp policy to ensure the insurance company has mo "wiggle out" clauses.
So far have got following.
Would welcome additions to the list from the wealth of experience on this forum.
1/ Drive other cars cover
2/ uninsured driver cover
3/original windscreen cover
4/ New car replacement cover if unable to source
5/ options as modification, options included in car value.
6/ courtesy car restrictions

Plse feel free to add , or also help create one for gap...
Thks

Note on #4 a lot of companies revert to 'book price' if your car is not available in the UK to replace. As most of us order to build the chances are they would revert to 'book price'...hence why I went for GAP from day one :)

With a PCP that is purely the way the car is financed, you are still the legal owner. It's just like taking out any other type of finance from a dealer. My house is mortgaged does that mean I'm not the legal owner?

The same applies to a mortgage. Until you mortgage is paid off the legal owner of the property is your mortgage provider which is why in the past they always held the deeds and would only release them to you when the mortgage was paid off. When the mortgage is paid the deeds are no longer sent to the owner but you will get a certificate from the Land Registry confirming you are now the legal owner.

Direct Line do not consider a PCP to be a lease but just like any other finance agreement which just about all car sales are done using finance so nothing different. They do consider Hire Purchase as a lease however

To add to my list
7/ choice of repairer (to keep within warranty)
8/ legal ownership ..Pcp ?
9/ clear excess voluntary and compulsory
10/ wrong fuel cover.

Will keep adding .

Interesting to see lv require tracker over 30k. With tracker blockers is there any point...

My A3 has been insured with LV since it was new and the original value was £32,570 and they have never said any about need a tracker. Perhaps it only applies to an S3!

Your number 1 - drive other car. You will only get third party cover for driving other cars and I think that's pretty normal cover.
If you want to get full cover you have to ask them at the time (eg for a courtesy car)

Yes ,it is only third party, but have spotted that is not a given on all fully comp policies.
Once I think I have the full list ,will put it up on this thread

Original Windscreen Cover -

Direct Line will only pay out for "Like for Like" windscreen - which means you will get an aftermarket glass, supplied by Autoglass.

If you want an OE Audi Windscreen - this will be an additional £216 on top of your windscreen excess.

@Glassman - Do you happen to know which insurance companies are more likely not to charge extra for an OE Audi Windscreen?

And here it is, in the policy document:

Interesting as that is sure invalidate any warranty.
Good reason to avoid direct line. Also worth checking other policies.
So far the best policy I have found is Saga. Lucky I am an oldy
