Hi all,

Really odd one this which Im hoping someone has an idea about.

Out of nowhere my head unit (factory audi symphony II (the double din one) stopped turning off when the keys were removed from the ignition, and the top section of the DIS (the one which shows what radio station youre playing) is completely dead. The rest of the DIS works fine and its not that theres a pixel issue as all 3 illuminate at start up with the various vehicle checks.

The head unit still works but it doesnt seem to have any link to the ignition any more as it seems to think it runs off battery power only (ie you have to turn it on and turn it off manually, and it will auto power off after an hour or so).

Does anyone know what the cause of this may be? I've taken the head unit out and all cables seem firmly connected without any trouble at all, so I'm at a bit of a miss what might cause this?

Can anyone help, please? I can't think how I'd start to trouble shoot this.

Thanks
Grangey

Plug into VCDS and see what comms/errors occur when doing a scan with the radio option

Ignition switch maybe or the kline/canbus wires not connecting up properly.

Thanks, I dont have VCDS so that isnt an option.

Thanks NHN- any idea how I could confirm this and look to fix?

Thanks

Unless there's any fuses or changes made to the car of late, the networking wiring doesn't really go wrong, not impossible, but rare, ignition switches do go, but vcds would be your best bet to see if it recognises the switching positions ok, whereabouts are you located?
