Im after an a3 black edition, ive been told if i get one with a sat-nav it will have a sd card reader.........now ive heard only some sat-navs have sd card reader.

Can someone correct me here........if cars got standard satnav unit,to enable sd card to work do i need to upgrade to the rnse? (colour screen)
if i get a car with no sat-nav can i just buy the headunit (rnse) and install that to work or is it more complicated than that?
ive seen rnse on e-bay around £350

Early ones they have cd/tv button rather than the later media button
The sd slots are behind the screen it drops down to access them and the drive for the sat nav disc
Early ones can only read up to 4GB SD card
Later ones can read 32 SDHC cards

Thanks.......so the early sat navs can read sd cards.......thanks for that.........any ideas about the fitting of a satnav to a car thats got non?

If they have double din it is far easier, year dependant it could already be quadlock, just need the gps aerial, which i read slides behind the clocks on a shelf, then coding with vcds

No, both sat navs can read but what kind of card is age dependant

ok thanks..........im sure most 10 reg onwards are double din(i could be wrong)
so basically they plug and play? apart from gps aerial?
ive sold my a4 took out the 2gb sd card got my music on it...........aslong as the a3 takes that or even upto 4gb im happy with that,il start looking for one now.
id like £30 tax(140 bhp one) but could even go for the 170bhp(£110 tax ) i have vcds too

Yeah quite possibly.
Yeah plug and play, if you get one with the full DIS on the dash you get the sat nav info on that too

We supply/fit the sat nav units if this is of interest :)

thanks very much, great help.........much appreciate it. Il try find one with a satnav now lol....

oh another thing i wanted ask.............do both sat navs early/later ones have built in bluetooth?

No bluetooth, unless the car has it already. I think there is a telephone system on the RNSE but not sure how it connects tbh

hello, whereabouts are you based and how much is your RNS-E sat nav for an Audi A3? I'm after the newer unit that went in cars from 2008 onwards. Please let me know asap, thanks!
