So I'm in need of new tyres for the S3.
I've currently got Toyo T1R, but fancy a set of road legal track tyres.
Does anyone have any experience of either the Federal or Nankang ?
They are just as cheap as Toyo or Falken, so price isn't an issue.
Thanks in advance

prawns trying out some new kuhmos which he raves atm
plus i believe they will be better in the wet

I have some Federal RSR TYRES for track use, yet to try them on the track but I can say that they produce way more grip than my normal Goodyear Eagle F1's and are also suprisingly good in the wet. The first time I tried them out it was near torrential rain, It started raining just minutes after I fitted them, and they were very good.

These are the tyres Prawn currently has on

Think Jardo ran the Nankangs on his car

I think Tuffty runs the Nankangs as well?
I remember reading that Jardo thought the Nankangs were good for the money
I might take a punt at the medium compound Nankang

I've got Federal 595RSR's on my car - although I only got to use them for about 50 miles before my engine trashed itself. They seemed pretty grippy in the dry. I'm sure a few other people are using them on here too?

I always used to swear by Kumhos in the past though. Great value for money too.

One of the MX-5 championships recently changed its control tyre from one to the other (from Federals to Nankangs IIRC). For a season or two they were allowed to run either tyre to keep it fair for people who had the old tyre 'in stock'. They didn't find any real difference in the lap times between the two.
