Don't worry about it. That's what insurance is for. And I bet you stand more chance of having an accident that having it pinched.

Very true, plus was gonna take gap insurance.my main concern I guess was the fact that they seem to break into your house for keys rather than steal from driveway.have you had any issues with this?

There are other threads on here discussing this. I already had a house alarm and just installed CCTV for my S3 to protect my family and have taken out GAP insurance for the car

If you feel you need to d-badge the car you may as well get an A3. If anyone steals mine I will hunt them down!

already got an a3 ha.i see what you mean though.so you have had no bother with yours?im looking to buy one September

To be honest just removing the grill badge is not going to deter anyone except the opportunist thief. There are other differences on an S3 to consider if you are going to try and disguise your car.

4 exhausts
Silver grill
Rear badge
Wing mirror housing
Rear roof spoiler
S3 exclusive alloys

very true!test drove one at audi Derby last month, holy crap it's quick!stunning car.

Not took delivery yet, waiting until the new reg, but I live in an area with other S3s, S5s, Porsches and other expensive cars so it's quite safe around my area

Claymores !
Ok maybe not.
As others have said , good insurance.
Was thinking of a tracker , but see trackers blockers are cheap on ebay , so no point..

Who did you take gap insurance out with?

I was worried about this when I first had mine. Insurance and GAP will sort you out in the unlikely event of bother. I know others withS3's who park outside their houses and driveways etc and not had an issue. Like anything, if you're targeted, nothing you can do. A garage is good, but not everyone has the luxury. Just buy it and enjoy it.

I think you are right, just spent too much time looking on the net.sunning cars and wanted one for years.i know I will regret it if I don't.like you said just buy and enjoy

They do it by cloning a key via the OBD port.
Had it tried on my S4,but luckily they were disturbed.

I would advise everyone to move the OBD port to a different location so that it cannot be accessed through popping the drivers window

Who did you take gap insurance out with?

I had a transferable policy from my old car with Gap Insurance 123 which I extended, was best and most cost effective option for me. Are plenty of reviews on the web and several threads on here

I worried myself sick before delivery as it is parked in the street, on the main street through the town and in clear view of most. However, after a few weeks I soon realised that 9/10 people walked or drove past without a second look and those who knew what it was, looked and moved on. I am now more concerned about scratches from people parking next to it than it getting stolen. Plus it is not parked directly at my door, so unless you scoped out the car to see where I live, it would be a guessing game to try and get the keys.

No touch wood ! Get some ALA GAP

Mine will be parked in my driveway, i've had similar concerns re: the theft stories but a guy opposite has had an S3 for over a year and no problems. I will be taking ALA GAP insurance but in the next few weeks am having security cameras fitted on the house as an extra deterrent.

Only those with the advanced key get stolen... :rockwoot:

Is the advanced key the one you leave in ya pocket & use the start button?

If the advanced key stuff starts on here again, I'm deleting my account :sign ban:

One day, if I get my hands on a more expensive car like an S3 (or higher), I'd fit -

- a GPS tracker...hopefully linked to a mobile app. Which I can then -

- remotely immobilise the car.
- remotely enable "Safe Lock" so they can't open the doors from the inside.
- automatically direct police to it's location.

If I had that installed (if such a thing ever exists) I'd probably want someone to rob it so I can try it out :D

I wouldn't worry too much about it being stolen...insurance companies can't be that concerned!!! Last year I paid £260 for a 4x4 diesel Vauxhall Mokka, this year on a brand new S3 with better cover £301. Think that says it all...if it was HIGH rish I think it would be a lot higher to insure!!!

Good insurance (not the cheapest) and GAP = piece of mind :)

Oh and for when you are on the forums so you can keep looking at your pride and joy cctv :):

Never let the thieves stop you getting the car you want. Otherwise we may as well all give up and say they have won.

From someone who had 2 cars stolen in an armed robbery.

Don't get keyless and buy an old fashioned disk lock if it bothers you. I did.

Must admit I was getting a bit paranoid about leaving my car. So when the new S4 arrived got myself a new Disklok and some GAP insurance.

Trackers IMO are a waste of time. You really want your car back after its been stolen? I know I don't

Advanced key? Each to their own. Its not for me TBH

Haha half all of those I've not specced.

Black grille
No rear badge
Optional wheels which you can have on the S-line.

Mine does look rather standard from behind debadged...
