Has anyone had their roof or roof and spoiler painted or vinyl to gloss black?
I am thinking of getting it done with the vinyl so that it can be put back to standard if needed.

Pics would be great :)

Hi Ben

Not seen any 8Vs done but my brother has his 8P wrapped in satin black. With an Ibis white S-line it looked great. From memory was £100 by PDA car in Harrogate. Used proper 3M stuff too. Will try get a pic for you if you want to see it?

Been thinking of having this done on my S3, but will wait till the RS3 comes instead. I can't decide between satin black or gloss, i'm told that gloss wraps show marks (ie swirls etc) very very easily

A pic would be great if you can get one! Can't decide if roof alone will look right. May need spoiler doing too like the a1s you can pick up from factory.

Good point about the gloss black! I just want it to match the grills etc so satin should look good too! Are you going to get just the roof wrapped or spoiler too?

I'm not 100% on that, I was thinking of letting them wrap the roof and see how that looks.. Then if needed wrap the spoiler too.

I've gone for the black pack, black wheels and black mirrors, so pretty much all black haha.

tempted myself but not sure if ill have gone too far

Black 3M Vinyl Roof, Arial, Lip Spoiler and Mirrors. Not an SB but might give you an idea.

Looks nice! Is it gloss or satin? Any issues with swirl marks?

Next question... any good wrapping places in or around Staffordshire that people could recommend? Don't mind travelling a little for quality.

Swirls on a wrap are no different to swirls on paint, if you look after your car then they won't be a problem.

I have my grill and mirrors wrapped and they don't suffer with swirls. Just make sure you pressure wash the surface thoroughly before cleaning.

What area are you from? I know a great place in the South West

All gloss. I needed to throw a few coats of wax on the roof wrap in order to match the PanoRoof glass tho, also adds protection. Car is only washed by myself so zero swirling so far. Gloss wraps will 100% get swirled via a £5/10 "immigrant special" wash tho.

Sorry, no idea of any wrapping places outside of London. I wrapped all the bits myself as most places wanted silly money, £120 to £300 just for the roof and arial. Just need to take your time and have a good "HOT" hair dryer. An extra pair of hands helps.

Tip: I managed to wrap the arial while it was still on the car using 2 bits of wrap, one for the back side and then one stretched over the rest. To wrap with one piece you would need to remove the ariel and this involves dropping the interior headlining and then heating the ariel base as it's bonded as well as bolted. Takes a good chunk of time to do which is why a few places wanted to change more. Some places even refused to do it.

I am from the Midlands, not too far from stafford. Well the deal on my car was too good to turn down but it doesn't have the black pack, so hoping to get them bits wrapped. Maybe not the grill as I will hold out for an RS3 grill.

I'm sure Audi would offer it for a good price for it's loyal customers!

Was one of the many great things about the E46 M3 CSL......

Na, l will stick quite happily to a Sunroof,Pug offered a Carbon roof on their RCZ and it was just a layer of carbon fibre over the steel roof, £1500,KEEP IN MIND its only a Hatchback.

Hi mate, I know this is an older thread but have you got any up-close photos of the spoiler wrap, was it removed for wrapping?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Can take some for you tomorrow as I have no real close-ups on file. Spoiler was purchased separate from the car and I wrapped it before fitting, using 3M automotive tape.
