I've had the exhaust checked as I thought I had a blocked CAT, specialists ran test found nothing wrong, so I thought it was a boost leak, specialists checks no issues found, full diagnostics done nothing found the fluttering sound is only there under full turbo boost???

Hi Ashmo. Does it occur between about 3 and 4.5k rpm and then tail off? Can I ask if you have a CAI fitted?
What I'm thinking here is the DV does 'flutter' on full boost around this point and is only really noticeable with a CAI. If this is the case then its completely normal.

Its totally stock, yes around that rev amount, you can hear the turbo spooling up then boost and the ****** sound, I didn't even mention the issue to my brother, took him for a spin the other day and out of the blue he was even asking what that sound was under boost, it ruins the sweet sound of the car :frown new: is there a better DV I could replace and see if that is the sound? It was OEM from Awesome GTI so not original Audi part could that be the issue all along?

It would be unusual to hear it with the standard intake system. You dont by any chance have a spacer ring on the DV do you so it vents to atmosphere rather than back into the intake?
Something like this :

In between the dv and the main housing.
You say it had a new DV fitted recently? Its unlikely Awesome would fit a naff DV.

It was this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/221680727867 I've ordered a genuine one from Audi now to test and we shall see fingers crossed this is where the sound is coming from.

Pierburg are the manufacturers of the Audi OE part so what you have is an original part just not branded for audi. This is also the correct revision so I doubt this is your problem. You're sure there is no additional spcer between the DV and the housing/...

I take it the car is running ok?

No spacer just a direct fit, the car is running ok now it was a bit sluggish 2 weeks back or so but its come back to life after a little thrashing and CATClean.... well it wouldn't be the first time a new "OEM" product has failed on me....
