Hi @t8ups,

I am a complete noob to lighting but @<tuffty/> recent project has got me interested but I really don't know what lights I have and I want to understand lighting

I have an Audi S3 8L with standard lights and have always thought that the light output from both the dipped and full beam is pretty poor

I had a look last night at them and can see that the 'dipped beam' is a separate bulb to the full beam - right, that's me done...lol

So, do you know if both bulbs are HID as standard? or is the main beam a HID and the dipped beam a normal Halogen bulb? Is the full beam a Xenon HID?

Also what do the H# numbers mean when talking about HID/Xenon bulbs, I keep seeing H2 and H7??

and Ds2? or was it D2S?

Hi

Your dipped beam that's from the projector is a HID/xenon and is a D2S. The full beam which is in the reflected part of the headlight is a H7 and is a halogen bulb.

there are lots you can do, did you want to change the projectors to more updated ones?

sorry, just checked back on the thread.

Its something i am considering to do at some point in the future. After reading Tuffty's thread and the link you posted to your work on HIDPlanet it got me interested but i don't know the technical stuff regarding lights and i prefer to understand it all before considering changing things

The thing that put me off slightly with what Tuffty is doing is that he is having to fabricate his own brackets to mount the bits inside the headlight housings

I look forward to when you get your website up and running and then i can see what sort of stuff you offer for the S3 8l.

Sorry again for not getting back to you

Hi.

I will be getting some tester brackets in from Morimoto and will be making a set up for the A3 to make it a bit more user friendly.

@t8ups Did you manage to get some tester brackets in from Morimoto for the A3? Would S3 brackets be different?

Good news. Should have something towards end of the week re a cad drawing for a good plug and play fit so you don't have to make brackets.

Hi t8ups

has this stalled?

Also, was I right in thinking you were building a new website or is it still emtuning.co.uk?

cheers

Hi.

Been Over today, Cad drawing done in front of me so he is going to send off to the laser cutters to make them. These are been made for the TYC lamps that Tufty had as they are easy to open unlike your S3 ones so may be worth starting to look for them and then have a whole new fresh setup.
