Anyone interested in some custom laser work bling?

Some of you may have seen the laser engraved plates I have made for the manifold cover on the TT, but as it's the same engine, would anyone like the same for the S3 (with differing graphics) I'm not sure if the bling scene as as big for the S3 as it is for the TT!

They would be £33 delivered including all the required fixtures and fittings.

Unless there's quite a bit of interest (5 people +), it won't be worth the effort I'm afraid.

Looks nicely made, but I think you'll find we S3 guy's are more about performance than bling, although all black with a red and silver S3 logo would be cool.

I get that feeling! Reading here, it seems that people want to fit a hybrid and 'kick it's head in' round a track so to speak! Not that that's a bad thing, my car is in the same category.

They look something like this (this is the first test piece I made) although the new ones are slightly larger with a fold on them.

Not overly fussed on this, but you could you do something similar as a heatshield for the coilpacks? That would be functional bling :)

I'm interested if you could make one in black, with the S3 badge on the left, with room for something else on the right, maybe the 4 rings...... Mainly because my original one has snapped in half! I like Erikn89nl's idea of one to cover the coilpacks. Just subtle nothing bling

What this guy said, create something with a bit of function, heat shields are the perfect product for both you and us, and you've got yourself many many dealings

Here's my plan,

- I'll do the manifolds bling plates on a one off, then people can have whatever wacky design they feel like, but this will be limited to black on brushed stainless.

- This isn't the first time I've been asked for a coil pack cover and one to protect the turbo to charge pipe hose..... So, I'll make both!

How's that sound, they won't be anything fancy, just a little bit of laser engraving with a logo or something.

That will be pretty easy to make, should have a drawing by the end of tonight and will try to get one out for the coilpack protector.

I've got all the measurements I need to make a prototype and will get one made tomorrow. Then I'll put the shape up with the card cut out to see.

I've had a look at the link tuffty sent and my design is slightly different. As that one leaves a gap near the outlet of the cold side, i'm going to get mine to run around it, but leave just a small gap so it's not touching. Ain't not heat getting past then!

As for advertising these, I won't be able to do it directly on here as I'm not a sponsor (I'm only small time fry and can't afford to run here and the TT forum while studying for a degree!), but, I'm sure you guys will be able to find them if you try.

If you want to set up a group buy I can make sure that happens

...especially as I would like a heatshield and so does JoJo so you have some moderator support there :)

I'll let you all know in due course and should be able to get a design out by the end of today. Tweak the design, then off to the laser cutters be it!
 
Keen for a heatshield, though being one of those dirty Seat types lurking the wrong forum it might depend on graphics :p

Thanks Tuffty, I'll put some pics up here later tonight when it's stopped hammering down with rain.

As for graphics, I won't bother doing the turbo/exhaust mani heatshield as it won't be seen back there anyway.

The coil pack cover will be laser engraved so I'll do some with TT, S3, Audi, SEAT, etc and can do custom stuff if you're prepared to wait a weeks or so.

Update:

The coilpack cover only needed some minor alterations and should be ready now I've modded the drawing.

The heat shield will need a little bit more tweaking as it's a little bit more of a complicated shape, but should be done by tomorrow night.

The coilpack cover is done and will be made from 1.2mm stainless (will maybe drop to 1mm though).

The heat shield is also provisionally done and here's a sketch of the drawing:

The 3 lines in the centre represent bends and the cut out at the end is about 3mm from the OD of the hose. Again, this will be made from 1.2mm stainless.
