DTUK 184ps box for 2WD A3

A recent long trip to scotland for a holiday produced some very good mpg results (brim to brim). Trip up there gave me a brim-brim average of 49.8mpg, and the 300 odd miles I did up there before filling to come back down resulted in 58mpg! Considering I had a box on as well, I'm more than happy. I know that the recent spell of warmer weather, lighter traffic where we were (which enabled me to cruise around at ~55 or so) + the change over to summer diesel probably helped, but still very good!

Just helped a friend shift a fish tank from my folks to his which meant a 2hr cruise at ~65mph.

now i know my box causes it to overread by~13% in map 3+2 ( which that was in) so that still works out at ~63mpg approx. TBC confirmed when i top off the tank though...

Great review mate. Am picking up my new car hopefully next week and will be looking at getting a tuning box for it. Nice to see what all the maps are like

Is the DTUK tuning box on the 184tdi engine easy to install? Reading what it's like on the s3 it sounds a bit fiddley having to gain access from below the engine?
Great feedback on your experiences smk82! Shiraz Red :icon thumright:

Less than 10 mins. Probably do it in less than 5 now ive done so a couple of times. Most of that was just me making certain I had the right connections and checking the hose routing

I should clarify that as for the 184 engine you do NOT need access from below

We'll I've finally managed it.. 508 miles out of a tank.. (after 24500 miles!).. this was doing a bit of playing fuel light chicken though, as only had 5 litres of fuel left in the tank when I filled up. Brim-Brim calcs give 50mpg, which isn't bad with the box on.. so fairly happy here..

What settings have you settle on for your box? I now have a leon FR SC 184 & fitted a box to it abut a week as well as a PedalBox. I have tried it on Map 1 & 2 with no adjustments so far

Great, thanks for the long write up.... I have a 1.8t petrol engine and being reading a lot about the dtuk box, still have my warranty to look out for it. I'm impressed that you drove 23k miles, mine has 9k KM and I had the car for more than a year.

Have you had your car in for service or warranty work with Audi since you've fitted this box? Just wondering if it flagged up even if removed prior to service.

I have had it in with Audi twice for warranty work and service. One I took the box out a couple of days before and once on the same morning. In neither case was TD1 flagged or box mentioned

Excellent review i know its an old thread but it was a good read.

I have a DTUK CRDT 2 BOX on my A5 177bhp and am currently playing around with different maps so this thread has been very helpful

Had one on my 184ps skoda octavia VRS

Great piece of kit for this engine! ....Torque is relentless and when already at speed, the torque delivery will scare big beamers and mercs!
