Roof and bonnet battered by giant hailstones

Is this photo working via Instagram? I'm using my phone so it's not as easy as on the computer.

No mate

God knows why it's not working then.

Went down to the Audi body shop this afternoon. As soon as they heard the hailstones were responsible he said that there's no point even looking at it. Says they've had hundreds in. Says you're looking at around £9000 if it needs a new roof. However, they have an "expert" travelling up tomorrow who specialises in this kind of damage and he'll look at 5 at a time and assess which parts he can't fix then they can give a proper quote. He says they're hopeful they can get them down to maybe £3-4000 using this method.

If I get a quote off of an Audi approved centre and one from somewhere else which is likely to be cheaper, is it a case of the insurers will choose the cheaper option?

Tell them that your car has a bodywork warranty from Audi and you will loose this if the car is repaired by other than an Audi Approved Bodyshop. This is what I said to my insurers (LV) and they accepted it and agreed that I take the car to the Audi Approved one.

If fact I only got the one quote from an Audi Approved one and they accepted it.

Thanks for that. They told me to get two quotes, it's booked into another garage on Friday, this is a BMW, Mercedes, Mini and Porsche approved centre. Obviously getting a quote from Audi is going to take a while longer. If the BMW garage send theirs in and it's accepted does that mean it has to go there? I.e. can I say I'd rather wait for the Audi quote?

When I rang Lloyd Newcastle earlier, I asked if they only do the BMW and Mercedes etc and she said they get Audi's in all of the time. But obviously I'd prefer to go to the Audi approved centre.

I live in Newcastle and luckily mine was in the garage. My mates A4 has 7k worth of damage!!

It's a massive kick in the balls. There are some insurance companies allowing you to claim as one had more than 1000 claims come in from that storm.

Was not good at all.

Gutted for you.

Don't take any crap from the insurers. They're legally obliged to return your car to its previous condition, which includes any warranties being intact. As taking it to a non-Audi-approved repairer will undoubtedly invalidate the bodywork warranty, they simply can't force you to do that. They're just trying to be cheeky and save money, especially with the number of claims they're likely to be getting over this issue.

Took it to Cooper Car Clinic on the outskirts of Sunderland. VW Group approved along with BMW/Mini.

Guy says likely to be around £5000 with a new roof. Every panel on the car needs repairing.

He'll send the quote and photos next week and take it from there. He told me that the insurers are being awkward asking for two quotes. Says one should do.

My mate told me the other day there is actually a dedicated "hail team" that is designed to be able to repair all of these kinds of damages.

Audi Newcastle have got them in to do his.

Sounds mad but it's true!

Most of the local approved body shops now have specialist hail damage teams working in them. I'm still on the waiting list at two of them for those teams to assess my car. Admiral weren't happy with Cooper BMW's quote of £5400 to repair my car and want the team that's in there now to quote on my car.
