I know this seems to have been covered a million times, but i cant find a straight answer.

Ive got a 2007 rs4 with the rns-e with bose and nav and want to upgrade it to one from a 2011 A3 with the gloss surround.

From what ive simply remove the original and swap the face plates over...

The guy im buying the new rns-e from said he will code it for bose, bluetooth and aux input. Does it need to be coded for anything else? As He is unsure as its going into an RS4...

Also, is it possible to have the 6 cd changer in the glovebox and also have an aux input as the guy says he can only code it for one or the other as the aux input will be using the plug that the 6 cd changer goes into.

Anyone got a link to a step by step guide on doing this please?

Thanks for any advice.

Thanks for the heads up ive just bought it

Nah just kidding, seriously though if I were you I would consider buying aftermarket to get better sat nav rather than the crap audi offer

you should be able to code both the CD changer and the Aux, also can code the start screen to RS4.
if you need any coding or fitting give me a should

There are quite a few units about that look pretty OEM like, I really hate how rubbish sat nav is that's the only reason I dislike audi units. Well that and the fact unless it's the mmi units, it's sat nav or cd, not both. Only my opinion so go for what ever you think.

Pioneer sat nav in mine works with multifunction steering wheel and sounds absolutely awesome with the factory Bose system and can connect iPhone threw Bluetooth and control the songs via mfsw! 10 to limes better than factory Audi **** nav!

Which model is it? Is it plug and play?

Here's a picture the sound is 11/10 when I setup the hpf frequency mirrors vibrate sounds crisp Image

I have the Dynavin A4 unit, plug and play and Bose compatable with the Audi, no coding required. More connectivity than the older OE units and a BIG screen.

Do any of these still display navigation turns on the little screen next to the speed dials. (Sorry I forget the name of that screen)

If you mean the clocks ie instrument clocks then no the pioneer does not interact with clocks can't say for any of the others....
Pioneer one is simply the best it displays a little screen with distance too turn eft and not many are mfsw compatible .

The aftermarket ones I've seen do not shown turn directions on the dis screen between the speedo and tacho but in most cases they have their own small display within the main display screen. No doubt there will be one or two versions that do use the dis screen for this purpose.

I wanted OEM but the Sat Nav side of things was a let down so i went aftermarket and it was the best thing i did.
Two main brands to go for in my opinion are the Pioneer and Kenwood units. I chose the Kenwood.

If you have a spare grand then alpine do some all singing all dancing models

Do the aftermarket android ones have satnav that doesnt require a 3g connection?

Does it also have dab and an aux input?

Ive been looking at
http://pages.ebay.com/link/?nav=item.view&id=221822443581&alt=web

But theres no dab or aux, which are the main things i want, along with satnav that supports full postcode input.

There are quite a few cheap China head units based on Android, but i would not personally recommend them.

If I was buying now and money was tighter then i would go for a older Pioneer unit with GPS, Bluetooth, Sat Nav, DAB and aux input.

The place i had my Kenwood fitted sees alot of Ebay units that are defective and have firmware issues(andriod ones)

I would rather a used RNS-E than a ting tong ebay unit.

It is good value though. This one looks the same as the Dynavin brand which is the best of the non OE units and 1/2 the price.

I would speak to people who have it first. if lots of people say its great then fair play :)

What are peoples views on the dynavin units? Seems i can have dab, satnav and aux input.
Any issues with sound etc that some of you have mentioned about the cheaper android alternatives?

I have a Dynavin in the S4. Works well enough but I can't compare with the Audi brand as I've never had one. I can only compare with the A3 Symphony head unit in the wifes car and no difference to me, both have Bose.

Only thing I can't do on the Dynavin is get the Bluetooth to talk to my phone, synched up at first attempt but never worked thereafter. More likely to do with my old Nokia phone though.
