Currently having a Turbo technics hybrid turbo fitted to my BKD and was planning on taking it to either awesome GTI or darkside to have it mapped but after speaking to then both on the phone they say they no longer map vehicles with hybrid turbos. So if anyone knows of a decent company in or near the west Yorkshire area who will still map a hybrid it would be great help

£550+vat. Yeah standard injectors and intercooler. They are good for around 230bhp. I'm hoping for 200-220

Why did they say they don't re map them? Wondering if there is a particular reason why they won't do it?

Because there stuck up bellends who will only map there own turbos because you haven't spent grands with them. You can tell if a turbo is going to be **** they can't say we won't do it because it might be bad or we can't guarantee

Exactly that. ^^

RS Tuning in Leeds have a decent reputation for mapping. Not VAG specialists, but a decent outfit nonetheless and I've used them in the past.

Then there's AET Turbos in Wakefield/Normanton. I had one of their hybrids on my last car and it was a decent unit.

Just some alternative options for you in West Yorks.

Well that's abit **** then isn't it :( I've got a APR stage 1 remap on my car that awesome GTI did and I was hoping to have them 'tweek' the map once I get a hybrid fitted

What is the reason the power tails off the higher up the rev range you go?

I don't have any experience but I'd have thought you'd want to hit the peak and then maintain that across the remaining rev range...a peak and trough is the same as the OEM map isn't it?

So the hybrids finally on! Just took it steady on the way home from work tonight but one thin I noticed was the lag! Booked in with @Rick @ Unicorn Motor Dev. Friday so hopefully once it's mapped properly this will be sorted. Can't wait!!

So after spending a few hours with @Rick @ Unicorn Motor Dev. Today the final figures are 206bhp and 352ft lbs. The car is completely different and the torque is something else. On the motorway on the way home passing things with ease. Rick really is a wizard and would highly recommend him. I have that kick when the turbo spools and it's smooth

Really good power gains there...I'm sure the numbers only tell half the story.

I know every car is different but do you know the reason your's didn't make closer to 220BHP as I thought that's what the BKD 140 would make after a hybrid turbo?

It probably will make 220 but I could do with a few more bits like a decat, egr delete and a 4 bar map sensor. This is a good strong but safe map. No point winding the thing right up and blowing something up when I get down the road. Besides you wouldn't believe the difference it's made to the car.

Nice car this.

The turbo is running at just under 2 bar of boost. This gives us a certain amount of airlfow to play with. The car is 100% standard apart from the turbo, so no intercooler or downpipe etc to increase flow. The ariflow produced is then matched to the fuel we inject. Currently the car will produce a very light haze on full load. More power could be made but then we would be smoking. The turbo could also be run at more than 2 bar of boost, but to do this a 4 bar map sensor would be needed for the ECU to maintain control, and turbo longevity would be reduced.

Thank you Ben and Rick for your replies.

And yes, as I said in my earlier post I bet the numbers only tell a small part of the story!

Standard clutch but it's coping fine with the extra power and torque. I have a dsg box too so that limits the torque but honestly it's more than enough for a daily! if I decide I need more power then I can start with things like a full exhaust, 4 bar map sensor, intercooler and then head back to rick for a tweak just as he said but for now the increase from the stock 140 is unbelievable.

@Sayam the numbers do only tell part of the story. Sat at 30mph then giving it some right foot you can just feel the surge straight away and then once you hit 3k it just gets stronger. There's no tailing off in power either so it just pulls and pulls and before you know it you're doing 70-80
