So, just changed the cam follower and struggling to get the pipe to sit right (the one with the banjo bolt) any tips on how to do this? i tried to seat it properly before tightening the torx screws back in but it kept popping out, so i figured i'd tighten the screws first to hopefully get it to pop into place..

do you simply just yank it back in to place so you can screw the bolt back in?

thanks 20150704 122704

From recollection you just need to hold it in place & do up the bolt by hand at 1st then with the correct tool, shouldn't be a problem tbh, just do not strip the head or you're well & truly fecked.

yeah, trouble is it doesn't have much give in it, doesn't want to move all that much! :S

Really struggling to get this blasted bolt back in, any tips would be appreciated!

I feel like i'm in a whole world of ****, i can get it to sit fairly straight but the banjo bolt will just NOT screw in at all. i havent cross threaded it because with the fuel pump off it screws in effortlessly and perfectly. my back is knackering me, i'm full of sunburn but i just want this ba***rd thing on!!

Get someone to help, you muscle the pipe into the right place so they can put the bolt in properly, i had the exact same problem and felt just like you do now. I procrastinated and complained for a couple of hours until i absolutely had to use the car, i lost my rag with it and forced it into place. 5 minutes later i was done and kicked myself for not getting mad sooner.

the thing is i can get the pipe into the right place now, it's just the ****** bolt will NOT screw in! with the pump off it is absolutely fine so i havent knackered the thread or anything, i just cannot get it to start tightening. Arrghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Turn the thread the anti-clockwise until you feel it click, this will then ensure the start point of both threads are lined up and you should be able to turn it clockwise and the thread should pick up.

Looks different to the s3 where we have a rubber fuel pipe coming off that side of the pump, the s3 pump looks easier.

finally!!!!!!!!!!! jesus what a nightmare of a day. I took the fuel pump out and bent the line until it was more inline with the other one (it was kind of at an angle) once i did this it threaded properly. GOD WHAT A DAY.

Here's the result....looks like it was due a change.

Worryingly there was some whining from the fuel pump when i was priming it before starting. ran vcds and all looks ok (i hope)
