Behold Ultratek plates

Yeah done them today :) Front just 2 holes in the plastic, back had 2 holes/speed clips so I just put a bit of tape over them before putting the ultratek's on :)

You weren't wrong when you said that they stick Mr.C :D

Think having to go to collect them has put people off - probably would have gone for these myself if they posted them out.

I didn't collect! My local Audi dealer was a supplier, so they ordered them and gave them to me in the showroom.

I found some very similar ones on eBay, they are resin bubble digits bonded to a blank plate. I ordered mine totally plain, and they arrived as described. Literally nothing on them except the reg.
They look excellent! Was a little miffed at first as the letters picked up some fluff and dust straight away but when I washed the car they came up fine and stayed clean.

Don't want to be a jobs worth mate, but they may get you pulled! or if you keep it long enough fail an MOT.

You must have the following on the plates:

The British Standard Number (currently BS AU 145d)
The name, trademark, or other means of identification of the manufacturer or component supplier.
The name and postcode of the supplying outlet.

I think you'd have to be mega unlucky to be pulled over for number plates. Unless they're the italic bold type for example. I'm tempted to go with the full house custom plates. They're a gel resin type and look great

I'll be fine mate, but thanks for the advice. I have it on good word that a standard looking plate will not usually cause an issue, it's messing around with fonts and spacing that will get you a tug.

They ain't similar, Ultratek are 3D lasered all metal plates.

Sounds like a plan think my 4YO would love that.

Do you get any free samples lol !! ?

There was a whole kids section and a massive outdoor play area, sadly my other half would not let me have a go lol..

Yer think we had 4 or 5 bars and a pot of melted chocolate.

I think Ultratek's patent lawyers would disagree
TBH it was your plates that inspired me to get mine! Similar effect I'm sure you'll agree. But even if I wanted to change them now, I'm not sure the ******** are ever coming back off. Half a roll of bodyshop foam tape later...!

lol I'm going to leave changing the plates over on the next car to Audi, if they bend/break them trying to get them off they can replace them for new ones ;) 5 pads on each one and they are very sticky indeed :)

Are the plates normal sized? Ie will they fit inside a plate holder?

We just need to confirm who we are making plates for, its a legal requirement. If you let me know the area you live I may have a customer you can take your details into for confirmation.

Hi Gary, do you have anyone in Northern Ireland?

I'll drop you a txt Monday Gary - don't want to interrupt your down time!

Saw some of your plates at a car show last weekend and liked the look.

Apologies to resurrect and old thread but what is the long term durability of these?
I need some new plates and thinking of investing, presuming they're still legal.
I might get the GB ones before brexit!

Well I've just put the set I bought for my s3 onto my s4. So they are about 18months old. Still look pretty much as good as new.

Just to revive this thread, I've ordered a set through Hills via email but they've liaised with Audi who are footing the bill and fitting the plates for collection day, Audi have my retention certificate so there was no need for a trip to Birmingham!

I’m tempted by these

https://www.ukmetalplates.com/?utm_...95CN81-WW-FYc40A1T2ErFrhQixoCL_8QAvD_BwE#faqs

And also tempted to go 46cm as i have 6 chars in my number plate ..

Thoughts ?

46cm on rear would be fine (I think) I’d worry if my OCD would cope with the front plate not filling the plate mount?

Anyone done this and have pics?

Thanks

Personally I think it looks a bit pants when the front plate doesn't fill the plate mount, can get away with it at the rear because there isn't one.
