A3/S3 8V MY16 Info/Rumour Thread

Yeah.. took a while though and I just wanted to drive off as quick as possible :p

EPC ??

Love the car so easy to drive and comfortable !

I still havnt found the ideal driving position but loving the car... did a solid 2 hour drive! And the navigation, I was skeptical but the directions and level of detail in them are definitely great! Was very impressed it was 3D too was expecting ugly 2D on the SD Nav as the book says.

If you have a look at my pic of the rev counter the EPC logo next to the engine logo.

Btw do you have silver door sill protectors (not sure what trim or spec you ordered) but I know I didn't order them so thought they're just standard and I hadnt noticed them on the test drive.

Reference the A3 facelift, looking at Audi's product life span, models tend to get a facelift (or PI, product improvement as they call it) after the car has been in production 4/5 years. Based on this, the A3 will get a facelift late 2016/early 2017. I very much doubt it will include a top view camera as suggested in the rendering posted previously (which is just an A6 front end photoshopped onto an A3). I suspect sweeping indicators (rear) will be standard on S-Line models or cars with the Xenon lights selected. I very much doubt that it will have the virtual cockpit as premiered in the TT, I think that will only feature in the brand new model A3 which won't be appearing until 2018 at the earliest. The thing to look out for throughout VWG that indicates a new model/facelift is looking is special edition A3's; cars that come with things that were previously an option I.e A4/A5 Black edition plus. Audi haven't released or even hinted at a facelift A3 yet.

I don't remember / notice the epc thing, what is it ?

Lol also didn't notice 3d sat hav either, I only got the sd card one but will check later.

I've got the sline so yeah got sline sill protectors.

Raining now, was planning to wash / wax the car and take some photos today

Does anyone have the led lights with s d Sat nav was hoping both would work togethe

Something to do with auto start stop according to the book but it only stays on when I have the ignition on, soon as I start the car it disappears and the book only says to do something if it stays on. Think it may just be one of those things that stay lit, my engine light does too until I start up. Is this normal for all?

Yup the 3d option is in the menu if it's not already 3d.

I've got a sport so thought they only came with the sline.

I'm waiting for my wax to arrive should be here on Wednesday got a tub of collinite 915

Thanks for posting these pictures. Good to know the "Ready" and "Off" have been added to the rev counter as it's a good feature on the BMW.

9 weeks on Wednesday until i pick mine up!

It definitely is, especially on the petrol models where the engine is immensely quiet when you have all the windows closed and radio even set quite low!

Boost gauge gone? (Never was a fan tbh). I actually loved the "ready" button on my old 5 series hybrid - even when you started the ****** thing sat silent!!!

If it's MY16, I think the rear view mirror has changed to a larger/squarer one from what I read - any chance of a picture?

It's not an S3 in the photo - boost gauge remains.

Often takes me months of occasional tweaks in a new car to get the driving position just right - then it goes in for a service and some numpty changes it!

According to my A3 Owner's Manual dated 10.2013 which was supplied with my new A3 in April 2014, the EPC light refers to the Engine Management for petrol engined cars only. It also says:
If the indicator lamp EPC lights up, there is a fault in the engine management system - Drive slowly to a qualified workshop without delay and have the engine checked.
If the indicator lamp EPC lights up when starting the engine there is a malfunction in the automatic start function.

It's possible that the purpose and meaning of this light has changed for the MY16 but it's well worth keeping an eye on it, just in case.

I suppose I'm quite lucky with the driving position. When it goes in for service or anything or wife wife drives my car, I can quite easily get back to my original position. I have electric seats and I have the height at it's lowest position and I have a small piece of red insulating tape on the seat side panel and I just move the seat, usually forward, until the this lines up with a certain position of the runner attached floor. I usually do this before I get in to the car. All that is left then to to adjust the backrest, which is easy using the switch on the side of the seat.

Thats a really good idea, think im going to try this

I think someone was after a pic of the paddle shifters on an MY16 so please see below. "Off and Ready" also visible.

To my untrained eye they appear to be a polished aluminium front with plastic insert at the back. As the actress said to the bishop, here's a shot from behind along with a full frontal close up including flash:

Cheers for that - from memory mine have horizontal ribs on the back I'll check at lunchtime. An alloy paddle would be an improvement.

Edit : They look the same.

Mine are the 2015 MY and are plastic and have the horizontal ribs on the back.

The back looks the same but the front is different mine (2015) have a black plastic insert in the front and look taller.

The pic of the 2016 one makes it look very short and stubby, I take it you can see it above the wheel ?

Picture coming up shortly... Just gona pop to the car...

So that's another "special" feature exclusive to Tech Pack buyers that's no longer special or exclusive. But at least I can get Facebook - oh no I forgot, they've removed that feature. Doh!

Thanks for taking the time to upload that. Looks smart. Never realised it had traffic on it either.

Yup the only thing I don't like about the nav but I'm assuming this is the same on the tech pack as the same software appears to be used and map data.... Is that if you go off route it can be stubborn at times to re route you and tries to get you back on the route. Anyone else have this?

It also looks to be widescreen, rather than narrow screen !
